The Scout is the weakest cavalry unit and cannot be upgraded. You can however train Cavalry, which is more stronger. Other cavalry units include the Heavy Cavalry, Cataphract, the Chariot, and the War Elephant.
Researching Leather Armor, Scale Armor, and Chain Mail increase armor. Toolworking, Metalworking, and Metallurgy increases attack strength. Nobility increases hit points.
