TETRISPHERE WAS INSPIRED BY THE ORIGINAL TETRIS

Additional Information

NOA

Nintendo of America.

Alexy Pajitnov

Alexy Pajitnov, Mathematician and Inventor of Tetris.

Hired by the Soviet government during the cold war era as a mathematician, Pajitnov liked to experiment with shapes and how they interconnect. From this hobby, he devised Tetris and sold the rights to a very enterprising Nintendo, who sold the game for the NES and especially the Game Boy. Today, nearly every format has a version of Tetris.

Mr. Arakawa

Minoru Arakawa, President, Nintendo of America.

Without Arakawa's dedication, commitment and perseverance, the Nintendo brand itself would probably have not even arrived in America until the late 1980s. Since marrying into the Yamauchi family over 20 years ago, Minoru Arakawa has been destined (some say pushed) into taking he company into the west. (Hiroshi Yamauchi is the president of Nintendo Co. Ltd.) Making a mark in the saturated arcade market and, more importantly, the dead-in-the-water console market, was an uphill battle and one that Arakawa fought and won with his deft juggling on price, product, image and quality in an unfamiliar territory.

Howard Lincoln

Howard Lincoln, CEO, Nintendo of America.

Without Lincoln's keen business savvy, sharp analytical method and extensive legal experience, there would've been small chance of Nintendo battling so successfully through the multitude of judicial onslaughts the organization has faced over the years. In some ways, he is the firm's most valued player, representing the company in the business and legal world with confidence and style. He remains the Western face of Nintendo, and along with Peter Main (the executive vice president) and Minoru Arakawa, is a key member of the power-trio which dominates Nintendo's American operations.
