This is the custom 2.5" cold air intake I made for my '96 LX.
I used an intake that had been modified for use in a '93 Ford Probe. This was originally an intake for a Honda Prelude (who says Hondas arn't useful?). I measured and cut to my own specifications. I then used plumbing supplies from Home Depot to create the connections between the joints and onto the throttle body to the intake.
I used a special tape I found at Home Depot called Polyken Foilmastic. This a tape that has tin foil on it. This creates a complete seal and helps to insulate and keep heat out as well as keep the full aluminum look. From what I have been told, you can also use this stuff on parts of your interior and sand it a little & it looks like brushed aluminum. Very interesting & good to know...
Well beyond what I have mentioned above, I also acquired an adapter plate and filter online, eBay, and that's how I got the cone filter to attach to the MAF and then to the intake. I have noticed extra horsepower in the 5,000 to 6,000 rpm range that wasn't there with the stock intake tubing.
