Maureen Hrabak’s Personal Bio
After graduation, I went on to study make up with a professional make up artist I met while working a performance for the Lyric Opera at Morton East Theatre. While interning, I also attended Beauty School to
become a licensed cosmetologist and later graduated at the top of my class. I later went on to work at several prestigious salons, including JoJo’s on Oak Street and Rodney’s on Michigan Avenue.
After much debate I decided to forego my career with in the beauty industry (lousy benefits and no paid vacations!) to try my hand at working in an office setting. Needless to say my first few ventures as a
receptionist/secretary where just about as funny as Lucille Ball working the conveyor line at the Candy Factory. I despaired of ever getting the hang of things, but finally a very understanding, motherly type
took me under her wing and patiently taught me the ropes. I never did get the hang of typing on a typewriter and I bless the soul who made word processors so popular and carbon paper a thing of the past!
I eventually got my first taste for computers and word processing and found that I was a quick study when it came to software. I later went on to delve into desktop publishing, page design and
marketing/advertising. When the internet first became a little more known to the public, I began studying it’s uses. I found that it was a great way to advertise and that with my knowledge of page design
and desktop publishing, I could easily learn to publish on the web.
So, nearly seven years later, I am still creating web pages and doing some design work. Only now my office is in my house and my work hours tend to revolve around my daughter, Kazia Anne. On a personal
front, I moved around for a while before settling down. (I managed to move 8 times before I bought my house! But I never left the Chicago area). I was married in October of 1996, lived in Berwyn till my
husband and I saved up a down payment on a house, and we are currently living in Elmhurst, IL with two cats and a large dog named Bear. My daughter was born in August, 1999 and I have been fortunate enough to
be a stay at home mom since then.
I am currently a home based business owner, working as a consultant for a company called Tastefully Simple, which sells gourmet foods at home taste testing parties. (Kind of like an upscale Tupperware
party). I love my new freedom, but alas it has limited my free time and will update the web site when time allows.
Please feel free to e-mail me at [email protected] or call at (630) 617-9892. My snail mail address is 558 Adele Street, Elmhurst, Illinois 60126.
