The team ends up in Corel Prison at the base of the Gold Saucer. There's no way out either, because the area is completely surrounded by quicksand. Cait Sith does mention one special occasion where someone actually escaped, but he doesn't mention how it was accomplished.
Barret is also with the team, but he's still in a bad mood and there are more dead bodies. Follow him off-screen, but watch your step around here - this place is filled with thieves and murderers.
Battle Tip:
You'll fight a lot of Bandits in Corel Prison. They will often mug you and steal items. If you quickly kill the Bandit who steals your item, you'll get it back. However, if Bandit gets away, your item is gone forever.
Follow Barret to the house located in the southeast. In this house, he explains to you what's happening and tells you more about Dyne. Dyne and Barret were best friends until the day North Corel burned to the ground. Barret and Dyne were attacked by Scarlet on their return trip to North Corel. Both men lost the use of an arm during the attack and Dyne almost succumbed to what could have been his doom. But it looks like Dyne is back and Barret needs to find him.
First, head back to where you entered the prison, where you'll find another dead man. Go through the gate and then to the east to find Dyne.
This isn't a happy reunion of old friends. Dyne has never recovered from the destruction of North Corel. His only wish now is to destroy everything - including Barret and his daughter, Marlene.
Boss Fight: Dyne
Barret fights this battle alone. Throughout most of the fight, you'll just continue to trade blows with Dyne while keeping up your health. Dyne's attacks build up Barret's Limit Meter quickly, so you'll have plenty of opportunities to hit Dyne.
Dyne has a magic attack called the S-Mine, but it's no stronger than his normal shot. This attack is extremely dangerous because he can use it immediately after using his normal attack. In effect, this attack causes about 300 points of damage. You should keep Barret's HPs around 300 to stay out of trouble.
Warning:
Dyne has a final attack called the Molotoc Cocktail, which inflicts about 150 points of damage. He'll use it when you just barely "kill" him. However, if your last attack really hits him hard, you won't give him the chance. He also uses this attack when his HP gets low.
You receive a Silver Armlet for defeating this though Boss
Dyne is still alive after the fight; however, he's badly wounded. Barret tries to help his old friend, but Dyne has given up hope. As a gesture of goodwill, he gives Barret a pendant to give to Marlene, a keepsake of her mother, and then leaps to his death.
