The following information comes from a post Richard Watson made to the Riven Lyst.

What happened around the end of Book of D'ni? It's unclear what happened.

It is very unfortunate for the Book of D'ni that the deadline for the book coincided with the deadline for Riven. The whole second half of the book didn't get anywhere near the attention we would have liked to have given it.

The Terahnee (with the exception of a few that choose to go with the D'ni to their new home) remain on Terahnee, but rename it Devokan (hope).

Atrus writes the Age mentioned on pg. 306 for the D'ni survivors - "one of the finest Books ever written" from Catherine's description. This Age is never named in the Book of D'ni.

The Books between Terahnee and D'ni are once again sealed.

Atrus and Catherine don't remain with either group, but instead move to a place Atrus called "Tomahna".

Anybody else see any similarity between Tehranee and Tyranny? Through the whole time I read this book I thought that was what it sounded like.

Tehranee is a D'ni word meaning "a New Tree". Derived from "ter" meaning "tree" (as in "Terokh Jeruth" meaning "Tree of Possibility") and "nee" meaning "new, fresh, clean" (as in "kortee'nea" meaning "Blank (new) Books").

The similarities between "Tehranee" and any English words is entirely coincidental, and I'm sure unintentional since none of the people on Tehranee spoke English.
