The History of Creatures

On the distant planet of Albia, over a millennium ago, the ancient Shee departed in search of a new home. They left behind something precious: six Norn eggs. These eggs represented the last of their kind, a unique species on a unique planet.

The colourful world of Albia is the fourth planet around a giant red sun. When it was formed, the forces of nature combined to produce a strange disk world, only a few kilometres around. Albia spins so fast that the centrifugal force has made inhabitation of the two faces impossible. Life on Albia has to live on the edge, a thin strip running around the rim, like a tire on a bicycle wheel. The rim is just wide enough for the creatures on Albia to pass, but narrow enough to mean north and south are largely irrelevant directions to go, being only a total distance of a few meters!

Albian inhabitants thought themselves to be the centre of the universe, marvelling at how all the other disks in the universe faced towards them. Sadly, Albia is the only disk shaped world and the other spheres just looked as if they were facing towards Albia.

The Shee left Albia for pastures greener when they discovered in disgust that the other worlds were in fact spheres after all. The temptation of all that wonderful real estate on a planet was just too much to resist. They left behind a lot of nice gadgets, though (including the very telescope though which their startling discovery was made).

With no-one to look after them, the Norn died out shortly after the Shee left. The Shee thoughtfully provided a secret store of six Norn eggs in the Hatchery, just near the incubator machine to revive them. An endearing, peaceful and playful race, the Norns relied on the Shee to look after them. Only one living Grendel mother remains, in the tree houses of the Grendel lair and she has plenty of eggs left!

The Norn's only chance of survival comes from someone who can protect and guide them through the labyrith of life. Welcome to Creatures - The future of a civilization is in your hands!
