News hot from the Sonic Newsgroup itself. "How do you get these news, anyway?!" you may ask. Well, that's because I'm on the NG! See me on there as [email protected].
I'm also on a Mailing-list--The Sonic PowerZone (see its link in the HotList).
Here's the News!

for biased review of Sonic R
"Turbo Tails" sparks 2-3 week argument
Here's a good example: #52. What was that comic all about? All that was done in this comic was that Sonic goes into a zone, dresses up like Humphrey Bogart, and goes into a plotline that is an imitation of a bad 1940s private eye movie.
Other Sonic fans all over the world are digusted too. Here are a few examples of gripes from other Sonic fans:
#55: Monkey Khan upstages
Sonic for the spotlight. Not a good idea
when it says "Sonic the Hedgehog" on the cover.
#56: Too much blabbering
from Mammoth Mogul, some of the colors are
wrong, and what's with the name "Turbo Tails"?! Going against
SEGA in every degree, Archie renames the ultimate (?) form of
Tails, and sparks a two-week gripe-fest on the mailing lists,
the newsgroup (alt.fan.sonic-hedgehog), and on IRC (#sonic).
#57: Sonic and Tails leave Freedom Fighters. 'Nuff said.
#60: Archie saves the
best for last: The Sonic part of the comic was
pretty lame, but the Princess Sally part of the comic was great!
Now if Archie can do well in both parts...
And even though the Letters Page says that the majority of Archie STC's audience (according to market research, the Power Ranger set, ages 8-11) think the comic is excellent, most of the fans, young and those...er, not so young, think that the comic is advancing pretty close to being on life support.
If only there was a way to get our ideas across, Archie may actually take the wax out of their ears and get going on some real plotlines. Has anybody found a way, besides petitioning? Tell us!
Hurry, or if Archie
is not careful, Sonic comics may get destroyed
along with Robotnik's
empire.
Newsgroup users (including
me) were really steamed when we found out what the ratings were for Sonic
R, the 3D racing type game for the Sega Saturn: 30%, according to Ultra
GamePlayers (UGP). But to make matters worse, when we newsgroup users complained
to UGP because of their reviewers' comments, they got flamed back--from
the editor of UGP. The newsgroup was ticked off, to say the least.
This resulted in a massive flaming on UGP, and partially on the newsgroup.
We have yet to hear about UGP again, but this was the rating for Sonic
Jam, the game that preceded Sonic R: 65%.
