Reunion
"Livi..."
Her eyes snapped up at the sound of his voice, surprise filling her, "Shawn."
He smiled deeply, taking her in before telling her gently, "You've grown up, darlin'."
She nodded tightly, "You noticed."
"Of course," he reached a hand out for her arm, his fingers brushing the soft flesh below her elbow. "It's been a while."
Shrugging her arm away, she nodded, "It has."
"Not long enough?" He asked softly, almost amused.
"You could say that." The girl growled softly, "How's your wife, Shawn?"
He sighed softly, his light hearted banter fading, "She's well."
"And your son?"
"He's well too. Growing fast."
"Good, that's good. I'm glad."
Smirking smugly, he murmered, "That so, darlin'?"
"For your son? Sure."
"And my wife?"
A deep seeded scowl touched her face and she looked away a moment, her eyes hardening despite the tears glistening within. She took a deep breath, "So... Planning on staying this time? Or is this another one of those quick visits where you storm into town, break hearts and then ride away into the sunset?"
His smirk only deepened, "You honestly think thats what I do?"
"Isn't it?"
"No," he shook his head. "I don't see it that way at all."
"Too bad then," she shrugged, moving to step by him.
"I heard about you and Adam." The girl froze in her tracks and he cooed almost obnoxiously, "Congratulations, darlin'. I'm sure Blondie will make you more than happy."
Feigning disinterest, she barely muttered, "Word travels fast around here evidently."
"Not really. I ask after you from time to time."
She turned at this, looking up at him, "You don't have to do me any favors, Shawn."
"That's how you see it, darlin'? Me just doin' you a favor?"
"What else would it be?" Her bright blue eyes locked on his, the question hanging in the fury laden gaze, and he sighed softly, shifting from one foot to the other. She shook her head, her quiet voice unable to disguise her pain to his finely tuned ear. "I thought as much."
And then she turned and walked away.
