Like It... Or Love It
She wanted to hate it. She did.
But all the want in the world didn't stop the simple truth of the matter.
Kalli McMahon waited as patiently as she could by the monitor backstage that night, like she did every night Jeff had a match, but tonight... She was more excited to see him than she could explain.
She grinned at Trish Stratus as she stepped backstage, the girls gigglish smile disappearing on seeing her. "Oh. Hey Kalli." Her eyes narrowed nervously, "Uh..." Her chance at saying anything more was abruptly ended when Kalli jumped on her in a hug. Trish laughed, "Kalli! What are you doing?"
"I love it, Trish. I do!" She pulled away enough to look her friend in the eye as she spoke excitedly, "That was so sweet! You guys looked great." The startled look on Trish's face spoke volumes and Kalli smiled gently, "Not expecting that, huh?"
The WWF Diva shook her head, "Definately not."
Kalli shrugged, "Me neither, I just..." She hugged her friend again, "I think this angle is great, Trish..." Her voice trailed away when she saw Jeff step backstage. Surprise registered on his face the moment he spotted the two girls and he hung back, paitently awaiting the hug they shared to end. The girl whispered in Trish's ear, "I'll talk to you later, okay?"
Realizing Jeff was there, Trish nodded, "Okay, Kalli." She gave the girl a tight squeeze and said, "You're insane, you know that right?"
Kalli nodded as Trish moved away from her, and both exchanged a smile again before Kalli turned her attentions to Jeff.
He stepped toward her slowly, his uncertainty sounding clearly in his voice. "Did I miss something?"
"No." Kalli wrapped her arms around him, placing a soft kiss on the lips that had just been pressed to Trish's. "I think I did."
Jeff rest his forehead against hers, their eyes locked together. "And what did you miss?"
Kalli sighed, "Just... Jeffy, all week I've been stressing out about this angle with you and Trish. And, its not that I don't trust you, or her even, its just... I don't know... It bothered me. It really bothered me."
His voice was instantly sympathetic, "Baby, I know, but your Dad..."
"Jeff." He broke off and she whispered, "I like the angle. A lot." Still surprised at herself she said, "When I saw you guys out there together tonight, I saw what Daddy did. This is a good angle, Jeff. You and Trish... You have some great chemistry there, and..." A slight flush of red touched her cheeks, "When I saw her kiss you tonight, I saw something very sweet and romantic and... I like the angle." She placed another kiss on his lips, "And I like knowing that at the end of the day, its still going to be me who gets to go home with you." She added playfully, "Right?"
Flabbergasted Jeff managed a gentle, "Always." She kissed him again, their tender embrace smouldering into a much more heated one and when they broke off he asked, "What happened to make you change your mind? I mean... I know... Sweet and all, but... Kalli..." He was at a loss to form a complete sentence, "I thought... I thought you would hate this..."
She giggled, "So did I."
"Then why..?"
"I love you."
His voice trailed away and he smiled, seeing the adoration she held for him sparkling in her eyes. "Let it never be said that you are not the strangest girl I have ever known."
He pressed his lips to hers again...
And as corny as it is, all was right with the world.
