Chapter I
“Kalli?”
When no reply came, Heidi Jacobs pushed open the slightly ajar door, stepping into her sister’s bedroom, “Kalli?” She cast her eyes over the room, sighing when she realized Kalli had evidently already gone on her daily walk.
She sighed as she took in the mess scattered around the bedroom. Since arriving in Australia days before, Kalli had not even bothered to unpack her suitcase. It lay open on the floor, clothes hanging out of it, shoes and bits and pieces strewn across the carpet. She used only what she needed to and little else.
Even her lap top rest exactly where Kalli had sat it on her desk on their arrival. It remained unplugged and completely unused. Beside it sat the only thing that Heidi knew for sure had been moved in the room for days.
She walked over to the desk, picking up the small black book that rest there on. The only time it was parted from Kalli’s side was when she went for her walks each morning. All she had done since they had gotten to the house was sit on the four poster bed, gazing across the room and out the bay window and letting her eyes search the vast ocean view from the cliff face only a hundred or so meters from the house. She would write and write and write. She ventured from the room for her walks and for her meals and showers and nothing else.
It had been a lonely stay in Cape Otway for Heidi so far.
Amy had decided not to join the two sisters on the trip, and so while Kalli locked herself away from the world day in, day out, Heidi did little but sit outside and sketch this view or that. She went on almost as many walks as Kalli did to kill some time, but she had taken to spending a great deal of time parked on front of the huge TV out in the lounge.
Even that held no interest for Kalli, which surprised Heidi no end. On Monday, WWF Vengeance had screened, live from San Diego, but Kalli would not leave the bedroom for one second while it was on.
“Hey, Kalli? Vengeance is about to start. You wanna come watch with me?”
The muffled reply through the door was a short, “No, thanks.”
“But...” Shocked, Heidi stammered, “Kalli? When have you *ever* missed a Pay Per View? Come on, I know you wanna watch.”
Kalli’s voice was marred with sadness as you spoke determinedly; “I don’t feel like it.”
Heidi had persisted for a good fifteen minutes until Kalli, wearied by the entire conversation, had practically bitten her head off.
“I said I don’t want to watch it, will you fucking stop it already?”
That had been the point where her younger sister had walked away.
There was no point fighting Kalli when she was so, so...
Destroyed.
Completely and utterly destroyed.
Everyday that they had been in the United States together, Kalli had been surrounded by people she loved, people who brightened her life simply by being there, people who’s lives she longed to make just that bit better. Everyday she would go out of her way to be near people, almost as though she was afraid to be alone.
But right now, Kalli McMahon welcomed loneliness like it was an old friend.
In the United States, Heidi had seen her rise every day and get into a gym, spending a good hour working out. And train... My God how her sister would train. She would get out on the mats and take bump after bump, determined to keep up her resiliency in case her suspension was ever lifted...
Since they had returned to Australia, Kalli had not ventured to the huge, nearly over-equipped Gym on the other side of the house.
Heidi picked up the book on the desk. She knew she shouldn’t, she knew it was wrong.
But she opened it, skimming over the handwriting filled pages, her sister’s voice ringing in her mind as she read...
“That’s *so* not funny…” Kalli was unable to contain her fit of hysterical laughter, despite herself, at the face Jeff was pulling across the table from her. His nose was scrunched up; his eyebrows pressed together, his eyes crossed and his lips pouting as his mouth contorted in a curious squiggly shape. She leant back in her chair, trying not to look at him. “Jeff… Stop it!”
Unable to hold the awkward face any longer, Jeff smiled, “I love it when you giggle like that.”
“Oh no, that wasn’t giggling.” Kalli grinned wickedly at him, “That was me scoffing at your silliness.”
“Me?” Jeff feigned bewilderment, “Silly?” He got around the side of the chair in the rounded booth, moving nearer the sweet red head in his company. “I’ll show you silly.” His hand darted out, his fingertips gently prodding her hips.
Kalli squirmed in her seat, “Stop it…” She slapped playfully at his hands, “Jeff, cut it out. JEFF!!!” Her lovable laughter filled the booth, drawing the attention of the clientele filling the busy café. Spotting the rash of disapproving looks from some of the more straight-laced customers, Kalli whispered, “Uh, Baby... We’re getting the *look.*”
Jeff looked away from her, casting a look over the cafe before turning back to her, “Then let them look...” He pulled her tightly against him, kissing her deeply, her head spinning...
Heidi smiled softly, she could just see Jeff and Kalli doing that.
She turned the pages again, surprised to find more and more memories.
They were in no particular order, all written in the third person, almost as though Kalli was an outsider, looking in on her relationship with Jeff. All like little, tiny stories, tales of their relationship extending as far back as when the Hardy's had first come to the WWF.
Why would she..?
But the thought trailed away.
Kalli was trying to hold on.
Her eyes scanned over another entry...
Jeff opened his eyes, spotting the unusual look on her face. “Kalli?” He whispered.
She smiled, “I will never get enough of that…” She giggled suddenly, “Am I even saying this aloud?” She dropped onto the bed beside him, hugging him warmly. “Did you like, baby?” He nodded and she looked into his eyes, deeper than he could remember her ever doing.
“What do you see?” He asked.
Kalli grinned, “The whole world.” Jeff began to sit up, gently pulling Kalli into a sitting position with him. "What?” She queried him.
He kissed her for a moment, “There’s something I want to do for you.” Another bright blush filled Kalli’s cheeks, and Jeff stroked it away gently. “Kalli…” He whispered her name and it sent shivers down her spine. It always did. He pulled her softly into his arms, kissing her gently. She melted into the embrace, returning his kiss three fold.
The youngest Hardy's hands took hold of the bottom of Kalli's snug purple top. He pushed it up her body, breaking off their kiss long enough to lift it over her head and toss it aside. He gazed over her, awe struck. Her breasts nestled beautifully into her pale purple bra, and for what felt like minutes, all he could do was look at her. When she leant forward and kissed his lips briefly, he grinned, “I was…” He pulled her closer against him, so he could feel their naked flesh meshed, full of electricity, against each other. “You’re beautiful.”
Kalli shook her head, “No…”
“Yes.” And then he silenced her with another kiss, running his hands over her stomach, cupping her clothed breasts and massaging them delicately. His hands moved to the back of her bra. When he undid the catch on it, Kalli giggled, but as he slid it from her body and ran his hands over her now naked breasts, she moaned deeply. “Lay down.” His voice was a hushed command. Still holding her, he let her lay back. Their eyes met, and without looking away from her, he kissed her bellybutton, then moved up her chest, taking her supple breasts in his mouth. Her eyes clenched closed and she sighed, thrilled to her very core...
Heidi turned the page quickly, a blush touching her face. That memory was a little too personal for her liking, and she worried that she would stumble across more...
But something kept the book open and clutched tightly in her hands.
“Baby?” Jeff’s sleepy voice filled her ears and startled, she looked up at him, forgetting the tears now streaming down her face. “Hey.” Suddenly awake at her tears he asked, “Why are you crying? What’s wrong? Did something happen to Sherrie?”
Feeling slightly silly, she shook her head, “I just...” She whispered, but she didn’t know how to begin to explain what she was feeling in that moment.
“Kalli?” He pulled her firmly into his arms, kissing her forehead. “Baby? What is it?”
But still she could not explain. “I just couldn’t help but cry,” she whispered pitifully.
He nodded understandingly, “Then you cry, baby.” He whispered, “But you always wake me or call me or...”
“What the hell are you doing???” Kalli McMahon exclaimed as she stepped through the door into her bedroom.
Heidi jumped, startled, the book slipping from her hands and bouncing across the floor. “Kalli!” She gasped, “I was... I... Uh...”
Marching into the room, Kalli bent to snatch the book up. “You were reading it! You were reading my book.”
“Kalli, I’m sorry...”
Cutting her younger sister off, Kalli snapped, “I don’t give a damn! Don’t you ever touch this book again!” Tears brimmed in her eyes but Kalli ignored them, whirling to walk away.
“Kalli?”
The McMahon Heiress paused in the doorway and Heidi told her gently, “If you need to talk to Jeff...” She struggled, “I know writing things down helps, but... You can talk to me.”
She could only see the back of Kalli’s head as she shook her head, “I don’t want to talk about it at all.” And she stormed from the room, straight out into the huge front yard. She kept walking until she was only a few metres from the cliff face, plonking down onto the soft green grass and hugging the book to her chest as if she had almost lost it.
Kalli couldn’t explain it, but she was awfully attached to that book.
She flicked it open, skimming its pages of memories...
“Which way does it go?”
Her own voice sounded in her mind.
“Which way does what go?”
The memories just kept coming... And she had to write them down, each and every one of them, no matter how small or how big...
Reliving them was like having Jeff with her in a way.
How she wished he was with her.

Chapter II
“Which way does it go?”
Jeff looked over the top of the dirt bike, his eyebrows curved in curiosity at the sound of Kalli’s voice from the other side of the machine he had been working on for most of the morning. It was the first time Kalli had come to stay with him in Cameron since their promotional trip to New York just two weeks before, and to be honest, he was struggling.
Kalli McMahon had stayed with him a thousand times before today.
But it was different now.
She wasn’t just his friend anymore...
“Which way does what go?”
“This,” Kalli McMahon held up a spark plug in her grease covered fingers, giving him a goofy little smile. She didn’t know the first thing about bikes, and she wouldn’t pretend to, but if she could *help* Jeff out while he worked on his, then...
Well, any excuse to spend time with Jeff Hardy, right?
Chuckling softly, Jeff said, “Uh, Kalli, it doesn’t go on that side.”
A confused little look touched her face, “It doesn’t?” He shook his head and she asked, “Then what goes here?”
Moving around to squat by her on her side of the bike, Jeff’s knee brushed hers as he leant forward to look at the small hole in the motor she was motioning to. “That spark plug is half the size of that,” he smiled, “See...” He took the spark plug from her hands and demonstrated, unaware that her eyes had crept to his face, rather than to the bike. “You see,” he went on unknowingly, his eyes still on the engine, “This is where the...” He looked up at her briefly, pausing when he realized she was looking at him. A blush almost touched his face and he stammered a little embarrassedly, “What?”
“Nothing.” She wiped the back of her hand across her face, looking back down to the engine, unaware that she had covered a blush of her own with a streak of black grease. The smile on his lips spread quickly at this.
She had no idea just how adorable she could be.
When she leant forward to look closer at the engine, obviously trying to learn as she went along, impressing him with her interest in something she cared nothing for herself, he let his eyes creep over her. She was wearing a pair of his jeans that were entirely too big on her, and a black tiny t of her own. Her visit to Cameron had been a last minute decision at the taping they had done the night before and so Kalli was on the last of the clothes she had taken with her this trip. While they were working on his bikes, her clothes were washing in the house.
The McMahon Heiress raised a hand, pushing a streak of mousy brown hair that had escaped her long ponytail back behind her ear, effectively wiping grease in her hair too. He leant forward, whispering, “Kalli?” Turning to look at him she mumbled an ‘uh huh?’ and he grinned, “You’ve just wiped grease all over your face and in your hair.”
The crimson colour under the black on her cheeks deepened, “I do?” He nodded, standing up and taking a gentle hold of her arms from behind. He walked her over to his car, pointing to her reflection in the window. “Oh shit!” She half giggled, half squealed, grabbing the bottom of her tiny t without thinking to wipe her shirt. “Dayum...” She imitated his drawl to perfection with the exclaimed word, leaning forward to look closer at her reflection, rubbing frantically, completely unaware just how high her tiny t was creeping.
When eventually it crept above her bra, the soft white flesh of her breasts appearing beneath it, Jeff’s eyes locked on them, his gaze lingering despite himself.
Kalli had no idea the way looking at him effected him.
Jeff couldn’t even remember when he had finally realized that Kalli, who had always been ‘just one of the boys’ and kicked around with The Hardy Boys on the road with the WWF, was not just a cute little tomboy, but a beautiful young woman.
A beautiful young woman who had eyes for him...
And for him alone.
It had been only a few weeks since he and Beth had broken up. And he had been so sure that Beth... She was going to be the one. He was going to marry her, he was going to have babies with her...
But Beth had other ideas.
So she had left. And once again, Jeff was on the ass end of a bitter end to a relationship.
Once again, Kalli had come running to pick up the pieces.
“Is it coming off?”
“Huh?” Jeff’s gaze broke from her breasts, darting to her face. He waited anxiously for her to comment on where his eyes had fallen, but she remained blissfully unaware, “I said ‘Is it coming off?’”
He leant forward to look, “Na huh.”
“Dayum!” She exclaimed again.
Yes, Kalli McMahon had come to his rescue. Like she did time and time again.
And it was only then that Jeff had woken up.
Here was this girl right in front of him. A girl who knew him better than anyone else. A girl he could tell his deepest secrets, his wildest fantasies, and she never laughed at him, never scorned him in anyway, she just accepted him. With open arms, she would welcome *every* part of him. Good, bad, straight up insane. Kalli never turned him away.
When he needed a friend most, she was the first one there.
It had taken him three years to see that what he had assumed was little more than friendship was truly the love of his life.
And it may have been only two weeks since that first kiss, since that first shared moment of realization that this was what needed to happen, that this was the next step...
Jeff Hardy already knew Kalli McMahon would be his forever.
Reaching out to take hold of the hand that was still scrubbing away at her face, Jeff told her warmly, “You’re gonna rub your face right off if you keep doing that.”
“But I’m all dirty...”
He cut her off, “And what am I?”
Kalli cast a long, lingering look of her own up his body. His battered and stained old work jeans were layered in fresh grease and dirt, his naked chest, perfectly toned and currently smooth as a babies bottom was streaked with rub marks from the back of his filthy hands and his face was stained with grit from his work. Those familiar tingles of desire stirred within her and she grinned up at him, keeping her voice as innocent as she could manage, “You’re all grotty.”
He smiled, “So what’s the problem with you being all grotty too?”
The McMahon Heiress shrugged, “You’re meant to be all cute and adorable and clean twenty-four seven in front of your new boyfriend.”
The younger Hardy Boy chuckled, “Personally, I like you all dirty...”
“Yeah?” Her eyes twinkled mischievously.
“Yeah.” He stepped a little closer to her, wrapping his arms around her waist. She immediately melted into him and he nuzzled her nose softly with his own, “I think you look...” His chuckle deepened, “Simply ravishing,” he told her playfully.
The crimson tinge on Kalli’s cheeks deepened all the more. Thus far, at her request in her desire to take things slow, she remained unravished...
And Jeff?
To her surprise, he was perfectly okay with that.
But as the days slipped by and they spent more time together, growing closer and closer and then closer still, Kalli McMahon started to yearn for Jeff Hardy more than ever.
And right now? Locked in his arms, his breath on her face, his nose softly leaning against hers, his hazel eyes locked on her deep brown ones, she wanted to be Jeff Hardy’s girlfriend in every sense of the word.
“Jeffy?” She whispered, her breath locking in her throat, her words nervous and rushed. “I’ve been thinking...”
A smile touched his lips. He knew Kalli all too well. The way her lower lip trembled in a mixture of desire and fear, the sparkle of hunger in her eyes, he knew that just as he had longed for her, she was certainly longing for him.
But...
Wicked, but playful, he asked innocently, “About?”
“The...” She had to clear her throat before she could go on. “About that ravishing thing.”
He couldn’t keep the grin from his face now, “What about it?”
She blushed, suddenly cluing in that he knew perfectly damn well what she was talking about... But she could see it in him. He wanted her to say the words. “I was thinking...” She looked to the dusty floor of the garage, taking a deep breath to steady the rage of nerves inside her. “Maybe...” She added devilishly, “This is, if you can actually find the time to *squeeze* me in...” A nervous grin of her own touched her face now, “Maybe we can try it.” She added as though he might not know what she meant, “The ravishing thing, that is.” The way his lips curled as he leant forward to kiss her now almost reduced Kalli to a blithering mess, and when he eventually pulled away from her, she asked breathlessly, “Was that a yes?”
Jeff laughed softly, “I think it might be.” And Kalli McMahon nearly hyperventilated in response, a naughty smirk on her face and now it was definitely Jeff’s turn to blush. “You mean now?” He exclaimed.
And Kalli giggled.

Chapter III
The melodious sound of Kalli McMahon’s giggle filtered through the garage, and completely swayed by her he grinned, pulling her tighter against him, “I really hope Dad and Matt don’t decide to stop by.” He picked her up and she gasped excitedly, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around her waist to get a loving grip on him. When his lips pressed to hers, both were smiling into the adoring kiss.
But the smiles soon faded...
Replaced with something far deeper.
The seriousness of the emotion that bound them together now tore to the surface. Kalli’s fingers slipped into Jeff’s multi-coloured hair and a soft sigh slipped from her lips as they parted slightly. Immediately seizing the opportunity, Jeff darted his tongue into her mouth...
If he thought Kalli was melting before, the way she pressed against him now told him she was putty in his hands. “Jeffy...” she whispered between kisses as he walked slowly over to the dirt bike. He rest her down on it, grateful for the security of the supports he had it on. She sat there before him, her legs still around his waist, her fingers caressing his cheek as they kissed, hunger consuming them...
Digging her fingers into the top of his pants, Kalli loosened his belt with shaky hands as Jeff tore at her tiny T, their lips parting long enough for him to tear her tiny T over her head and cast it aside. When her black bra was exposed again, Jeff crept his hands forward, brushing them gently, squeezing them affectionately, before moving his hands to her back to free it from her body, happily sliding it off as their tongues continued to dance together in adoration.
As he bra dropped to the concrete floor, Kalli lowered her hands to the belt she wore to hold up Jeff’s pants, undoing it. Jeff gently lifted her off the bike, standing her before him long enough to slide her out of his pants, leaving her standing before him in only her panties.
She grinned up at him, “I’m feeling a little under dressed here.”
“I can fix that.” He smiled, taking her hands and guiding them to his jeans again. Her hands still shaking, she undid his fly, taking hold of the top of his jeans. He took hold of her hands again, halting her. Her hands still shook beneath his and he whispered, worried, “You’re sure, Kalli? You‘re shaking so much...”
The McMahon Heiress smiled timidly, “I’m just nervous...”
“Don’t be,” he cut her off gently.
“I just,” she whispered, lowering her eyes to the floor, “I want this to be perfect.”
Jeff touched her chin lightly, tilting her face toward his. “It already is.”
The smile that danced onto Kalli McMahon’s face then was the biggest and brightest that Jeff had ever seen, and standing on her tiptoes, she captured his lips in an excited kiss...
And when she took hold of his pants to push them from his body?
Her hands weren’t shaking anymore.
Again Jeff’s hands moved to her waist, this time sliding her panties from them. She kicked them away hurriedly and he chuckled softly at her, the two sharing a warm grin as he picked her up again, sitting her back on the bike. He moved to her neck, kissing it lightly, making her moan softly, before dropping to his knees before her.
“Jeffy!” She gasped, “What are you...”
His lips pressed to the inside of her knee and she swallowed the last of the sentence, a wave of heat raging through her body as he kissed a little higher, and a little higher again, slowly making his way up her body until his soft lips settled over her sweet mound and he darted his tongue between the folds of her luscious skin to caress her clit.
Another gasp escaped the girl, and she nearly bucked straight off the bike trying to press herself further against him.
He smiled as he moved, lifting each leg in turn to drape them across his shoulders, continuing the sweet massages of his lips and teeth and tongue until her legs clenched together, near squashing his head between her thighs as her gave her an orgasm for the first time.
The Hardy Boy climbed to his feet again, grinning as he wiped his mouth cheekily, his eyes locked on her face. Panting and barely able to even open her eyes to look at him, she reached for him, her arms scooting around his neck. “Jeffy,” she whispered.
He grinned cockily, “I know.”
And she giggled in response.
He pressed his palm gently against her cheek and she tilted her face into him. “Kalli,” his voice was a hush of adoration, “You’re so beautiful when you smile like that.”
She pulled him into a sweet kiss, “It’s okay,” she giggled, “You don’t have to sweet talk me anymore. I’m already all yours...”
He cut her off, “But I meant it.”
Kalli blushed, but she smiled sweetly, “Then thankyou.” Again she pressed her lips to his, one hand locked in his hair, the other gliding down his chest. Down, down, down... Until her fingertips pressed lightly against his hardened shaft. “Jeffy?” She asked softly, “Do you have any..?”
Jeff broke off, nodding, “In my wallet...” He bent, snatching up his pants and yanking his wallet from his pocket. He pulled a condom loose of it and held it up, about to speak when Kalli grabbed it off him and tore it open. He laughed, “And what’s your problem?”
“You...” She murmured softly, “I want you.” And again her arms and legs were around him and she was pulling him closer. He leant into her gladly, gently pressing his length against her, teasing her clit with it a few moments before pushing forward and into her. She moaned wildly as he entered her and he could not help but share in that, overcome by his very hunger for her.
They moved together, slowly at first, before little by little each thrust grew faster and faster until eventually Jeff pounded into her and Kalli, loving him completely, arched desperately against him, wanting more of him inside her than was probably physically possible. Beneath Kalli, the bike started to rock back and forth with more and more urgency until Jeff almost paused, wondering if the bike could hold them...
But coherent thought did not last long for either of them that day and together, locked in sweet kisses, he inside her, loving her, she welcomed him gratefully, and though the bike rocked like it might fall at any moment, neither one cared.
Minutes passed, perhaps longer, neither one was sure...
But when Jeff exploded inside of her, Kalli was right there with him every step of the way until the two were nothing more but a quivering mess, huddled together, Kalli near collapsing right off the bike, Jeff’s knee’s buckling under him. Her head rest against his shoulder, his head rest against hers, each sweat soaked and breathless, but content. Perfectly, undoubtedly, content.
“Kalli...” Jeff started to whisper, opening his eyes to look at her...
But something moved in the corner of his eye and he turned to look, nearly cursing when he saw his father and older brother walking up the road. “Dad!”
“Hmm, what?” Kalli looked up, following Jeff’s gaze. “Oh shit!” She jumped down off the bike, nearly falling flat on her face, her legs still unstable. “Clothes! Where are my clothes?”
“Uh...” Jeff looked desperately around the floor. “Here...” He snatched up her panties, handing them to her, the two frantically fishing around for the clothes they had cast so freely aside...
It was a desperate rush, but by the time Gilbert and Matt Hardy reached Jeff Hardy's garage, they were dressed.
“Hey Dad!” Jeff exclaimed warmly as his father neared the door to the shed, hoping to God that he, more so than Matt, had not seen anything. “Didn’t expect to see you this afternoon.”
Kalli smirked at the obvious effort Jeff was putting in to keeping his voice neutral.
Gilbert nodded, “Thought I’d stop by, maybe have a beer with my prodigal son.” He grinned over at Kalli, “Although I see now that someone else was stealing all your attentions.” He winked, “Hey Kalli.”
“Hey Daddy-O.” Kalli smiled sweetly, looking to Matt, “Hey Matty.”
Her best friend smiled at her, his eyes flicking over her, his smile turning into a grin...
Curiosity set on Kalli’s face and as Gilbert and Jeff spoke she mouthed a silent, “What?”
Matt shook his head, mouthing back silently, still grinning, “Nothing.”
She was about to mouth ‘What’ again when Jeff’s voice touched her ears, “Let’s go inside and have a drink then.” He held a hand out to Kalli and she stepped up to his side as Gilbert turned to leave the garage, Matt stepping up to walk by his side.
They were almost outside when a thunderous crash broke through the garage and all four whirled...
Jeff’s dirt bike lay on its side on the floor, still shaking from its tumble.
His eyes immediately crept to Kalli’s and the two exchanged a look, both fighting the urge to laugh out loud.
Gilbert shook his head, “Dayum it, Jeff. How many times have I told you to be careful when you jack those things up.”
The younger Hardy nearly blushed, “Um...” He shook his head. “Come on, Dad.” His hand dropped out of Kalli’s and he kept walking, motioning for his father to follow him, “You can lecture me over a beer, Dad...” leaving Kalli and Matt to stare at the bike.
When Kalli looked up at Matt, he was still grinning.
“What???” She exclaimed exasperated.
The Hardy Boy laughed, “Why is your t-shirt inside out, Kalli?” And then he turned and walked up into the house, leaving Kalli, blushing furiously, behind him.
The McMahon Heiress waited until he had gone inside before she stepped back in the shed out of sight and pulled off her tiny T, turning it back round the right way and slipping it back on, still thoroughly embarrassed.
She smirked.
It was worth it...

Chapter IV
It was all worth it.
Kalli McMahon sighed, closing over the book.
She wondered why she wrote in it at all. After all, these memories?
All they were any more were words.
Only words.
And words were all she had...
She sighed, shaking her head. “Great,” she mumbled to herself as the melody of the Bee Gee‘s classic hit ‘Words entered her mind, “I’m about to break into song.” Plonking the book down onto the grass beside her, she lay back, nestling her hands under her head, looking up into the bluey grey sky. For an Australian Summer the weather had been abnormally horrid this last couple of months. And according to the news reports she heard every morning when her alarm went off at 7am, this was the coldest summer the state of Victoria had had in 103 years.
It was fitting, certainly.
Three out of the last four mornings, she had returned from her morning walk soaked through, and though she knew a rain coat would solve that dilemna simply enough, she was getting a bit of a kick out of the misery of the rain and that feeling... When the rain is pouring down on you and your clothes start to soak and they get heavier and heavier and the cold wind makes your joints get stiffer and stiffer until combined, you can barely move.
It’s like the weight of the world is on your shoulders.
She smiled darkly. Maybe it was.
Closing her eyes, Kalli yawned sleepily. Adjusting to Australian time zones was taking its toll on her. When she should have been wide awake, she was wanting to sleep. When she should have been sleeping, she was wide awake. She wondered how long it would take to readjust to Australian time.
She was going to have the chance to find out.
In all honesty, she missed America already...
The thought broke away.
No. It was not so much America. It was what America held. Her Family, her friends...
And above all else, Jeff.
Right now he would be in Anaheim, California, probably just wrapping up Raw for the night. It would screen here in around 6 or 7 hours... Not that she had any intentions on watching it. Just as she had missed Smackdown when it screened on Saturday night, and Vengeance live from San Diego on Monday, she would not subject herself to Raw that night either.
She couldn’t do it. She couldn’t sit there and watch her family and her friends doing what she wanted to be doing herself...
She couldn’t bare to look at Jeff in case the pain of losing him came again.
And she couldn’t bare to look at Matt for fear that he would consume her again.
It had been easier since she’d arrived back in Australia. Part of her still pinned for the forbidden. Part of her still wondered where he was and what he was doing and if he was thinking about her as much as she was thinking about him.
But it was only a small part.
As the days wore on, the fact that she had hurt Jeff, and that Jeff had turned her away, quite understandably, was starting to sink in.
Did she miss Matt? Yup.
Did she still feel for him? Naturally.
But did she want him over Jeff?
She shook her head to herself.
Not on her life.
Her fingers brushed over the lush grass, gently floating over the book by her side.
She felt like this was all of Jeff she had left.
These memories.
Some mere bits and pieces, others so complete, so vivid that she could remember the exact emotions involved. She could smell Jeff, the delicious mix of two colognes he wore, and she could feel his touch.
Kalli didn’t want that to be all of Jeff Hardy that she had left.
But she had no idea where to begin when it came to fixing the mess she was in. It would be nice, more than nice actually, if it was a simple as saying ‘I’m sorry’ and ‘It will never happen again.’ But it wasn’t going to work that way.
She’d even thought about begging. Actually getting down on her hands and knees in front of him, her hands folded as if in prayer and just straight out pleading for him to come back to her...
But if Jeff had any sense about him at all...
He would never take her back.
Because the moment she stepped back into the United States, the moment she lay eyes on Matt Hardy, she wasn’t sure she could promise that she would stay away forever.
That was what infuriated her most of all.
Jeff was her forever. All she wanted was Jeff.
But some part of her she had come to loathe and despise desired Matt.
Clenching her eyes tighter shut to avoid the tears that threatened to come... The tears that were always just hanging there waiting for release, she cursed herself.
If nothing more, all she wanted right now was to disappear.
In effect, she supposed she had. But it still wasn’t enough. Two much of her life in America still lingered. What she wanted now was it all just to go away.
“Hey, Kalli!” Heidi’s voice came from the front porch of the house and somewhat begrudgingly, Kalli looked up. Her younger sister waved the cordless phone over her head, “There’s a call for you.”
Kalli groaned, “Who is it?”
“Its Krissy!”
And Kalli groaned again.
