This is a list of tactics for Quake2 deathmatch purposes. HAVE FUN!!

One important lesson is, the bigger gun isn't always better. And when you are going into battle don't
wait to find the weapon you want to use, CHOOSE IT BEFORE!! When choosing the right weapon,
PLEASE don't choose the blaster. Anything is better. The shotgun it not very effective either, but better
than the blaster. Now the Super Shotgun delivers twice the damage of the shotgun, and at close range
can be very deadly. -delivering up to 120 damage to an unarmored person. The super shotgun is a
good quad damage weapon because you are in no fear of blowing yourself up. And WOW I would
not want to get hit with 480 damage... OUCH! The machine gun is also a good quad damage
weapon.. but not one of my favorites. The chain gun in my opnion is just a waste of ammo and unless
you have someone pinned down it is not one of the best weapons of choice.. :( Grenades are quite
useful in many ways. If you used the grenades a lot in T.F. than you should have no problem blowing
apart your enemies it they are in hot pursuit. Grenades are also very useful for checking corners out.
With grenades, you can surprise your enemies; because, you can't hear them. My all-time-favorite is
the ROCKET LAUNCHER! This weapon delivers a explosive punch but is rather easy to dodge. :(
In order to be effective with the rocket launcher, you need to be able to not just aim at the person but,
aim at the persons feet and in front of the person (if he is running). Because if you shoot directly at
someone and miss, there goes a good rocket but if you shoot at the persons feet, you are almost
guaranteed to hurt em' at least some. You can also rocket jump with the rocket launcher. This is not
very difficult... and can be very effective.. It takes a lot of time to rocket jump with perfection and if
you don't have that time, there is a script----(just type these command in the console)-

bind mouse2 +rj

alias +rj "rj1; rj2"

alias rj1 "set rj_cl_pitchspeed $cl_pitchspeed;
set cl_pitchspeed 100000; wait; +lookdown; wait;
-lookdown; "set cl_pitchspeed $rj_cl_pitchspeed"

alias rj2 "set rj_hand $hand; hand 2; +moveup;
wait; +attack"

alias -rj "-attack; -moveup; set hand $rj_hand;
centerview"

The hyperblaster is a good weapon to use when your going to kick ass. This weapon shoots rapidly
had can cause a lot of damage if well aimed to your target. The hyperblaster is my favorite weapon to
use with quad damage; you can easily take out people from a reasonable range. The Rail gun is an
impressive weapon.. just be sure to have good aim... Finally, there is the BFG! this weapon is massive
(hence the name"Big Fuc*ing Gun"). Quad damage has no effect on this weapon but it doesn't need
any! This weapon is not useful as a 1 on 1 because in my opnion it is WAY too valuable! But it is one
of the best weapons many people at once. But if you shoot it be sure to see your target or it will not be
of too much use. (you need to see your target in order to cause damage) Circle-strafing is important
for any Q2 DM player to learn. It is simple and very effective. OK- here goes..first you, Point your gun
at the target, sidestep in one direction, and turn (with the mouse) in the opposite direction. Be sure to
keep your cross hair on the target so you can blow him to little gibblets. Practice this a lot even if it is
on an empty server. Jumping is also a good tactic to use.. But this requires a lot of practice also (if you
want to do it effectively). This tactic is idiot proof to use. All you have to do is, simple jump while
firing. This is a lot better that standing there or crouching there like an idiot! Personally I don't find
crouching a good tactic at all (even though it is better than just standing there!).

Running From the Rail Gun- So your running from some guy with a rail gun beacuse you have your
peice of crap blaster.....Whatever you do dont run in a straight line!! It will make you a very simple
target. Run side to side and jump alot. that will make it hard for them to hit you. Super Shotgun Packs
a punch- So your fighting in a tight hallway? Forget the Rail Gun, dont even try the rocket launcher. Try
your skills with the super shotgun, it can do as much as 120 damage to an unarmored mortal player but
thats only if all the pellets hit.
Grenades will do the trick- Grenades can sever many purposes. Like if your being chased by some
one with some big A$$ gun and you have a couple grenades, theres a few things you could try: Prime
the grenade and throw it straight up in the air...if your lucky it will hit the ground behind you and blow
up in the bad guys face. Turn around with a grenade primed and toss it at him (while still running
backwards) hopefully he will be running straight line and the Grenade will detonate on impact. Look for
a wall in front of you, run at it with a grenade primed and throw the grenade at the wall...it will bounce
off the wall and land behind you and if you have primed it just right it will blow the guy to little bits.
Use sounds to fool your prey- All lot of players that i've played with (including myself) will hear a
blaster fireing and rush in for a cheap kill with my rockey launcher (most of the time it works).
However you can use this to your atvantage...heres what you do: Get the BFG or some fatdaddy
weapon and then go into
an area where there is not any people and start fireing your blaster at the wall....when you hear foot
steps or see some one comming hide around a corner and change to your big weapon and you should
be able to take them out with no problem (unless they have the BFG)
Grenade Launcher- The weapon that i have the most frags with on the Q2 server is the grenade
launcher. Yep i use it alot...you can use it when people are
chasing you (just like the grenades) plus you can just toss them every where on a real packed server
and your very likely to get a frag out of them.....so just toss them every where!
Look At your battle grounds!- Figure out what you have for a fighting grounds!......know where the
good weapons are and use this to your atvantage. This one is very important!
