BRETONNIAN MAGIC ITEMS

Personally, I think the rule that restricts you to only one magic weapon sucks. There are so many deadly 2-weapon combos out there! Anyways, since we can't do that, I might as well stop moaning about it. So, here are some items you could use for your characters.

So now without further ado, here are the Bretonnian magic items. For each of the items, I've included its description followed by my personal opinion of it. Enjoy!

Weapons:

Blade of Couronne:100 pts. After the Bretonnian movement phase, all Undead within 3" suffer one wound with no armour save. The character and the unit is immune to fear and terror.

This is the coolest anti-Undead weapon. Slap one of these on one of your flying heros and take out that annoying unit of wraiths, ghosts or whatever!

Morning Star of Fracasse:30pts. Bearer gets +2S in first round of combat. If bearer gets 1 or more wounds on enemy with a magic weapon, roll a D6. On 4+, the magic item is destroyed.

I don't know......you slap this on a knight, and the knight will be at 8S when he charges. You have a 50-50 chance of destroying the magic item if you score a wound. Hmmmm, if you also give this guy Knightly Temper, chances are you're gonna KILL your enemy before you can destroy the magic weapon!

Enchanted Items:

Tress of Isoulde:35pts. One time use. May only be used against one enemy model. Cannot be used with automatic hits or wounds. Bearer hits on an unmodified 2+, and wounds on an unmodified 2+ with no armour saves.

Well fine, you can only use this sucker once, but think of the possibilities!! There are a million combos to go with this enchanted item!! Slap this on a flying guy and take out the enemy general right off the bat! You can also use this on annoying war machines which are pointed at your pretty unit of Grail Knights. The possibilities are endless!

Crown of Bretonnia:15pts. Bearer adds +1 to any characteristic before the battle begins. The first choice is granted on a 5+, second choice on a 4+, third choice on a 3+, and so on.

My personal recommendation is to keep this piece of crap at home unless you are really strapped on points. If you do use the Crown, roll in this order: Ld, T, W, A, I

Potion Scare:5pts. Declare use before the die roll for the bearer. Bearer may adjust the die total by +/-1.

Personally, I am 50-50 on this item. The +/-1 is good for an executioner's axe, but I'd much rather splurge and give my character something better......like a Tress of Isoulde!

Magic Banners:

Banner of Righteous Retribution:75pts All missle fire against the unit bearing the banner are deflected back to the firers d6*10". If it reaches the firers, the firers are automatically hit. Exhausted on a 1 or 2.

This item is nice against any elf army since they are loaded with missle fire. However, you still have that 1 in 3 chance of the banner fizzling to dust. Take this item if you want. I won't.

Banner of the Lady of the Lake:75pts. Enemy unit fighting the unit bearing the banner loses rear rank bonouses. If the banner is carried by the Battle Standard bearer, all knights get to re-roll failed break tests

It's a shame they gave such a crappy name to such a cool weapon. With this, chances are your opponents are gonna break and go running off the batttlefield calling for their mommies. Better yet, pursue them. As for your knights, break tests won't be too big a problem as long as you keep your general within the 12".

Errantry Banner:10pts Enemy unit charged by the unit carrying the banner cannot stand and shoot. May only be used by Knights Errant.

Lame.
