Ok, first off, Planning your army: first you need your general. I ALWAYS go for the King of Bretonnia if he is available ( where you game they may have house rules which restrict special characters ) He is Very powerful if used correctly (He isn't that great). The Crown of Bretonnia should be used as follows: the first roll you make do it on Toughness, the king has a WEAK toughness, most likely you will miss this roll. Next if it is missed, try for wounds. I have found that having four wounds helps greatly. If you miss that one then try for initiative, it is always better if the king attacks first becaus of his toughness and wound " handicap ". Do not waste the Crown of Bretonnia trying to boost his strength. If he charges into hand to han he has strength 6, with the virtue of the Lionheart ( which he comes with ) will boost that to at least 7, and at most 9 .... thats right, strength 9. This means you will roll 3+ to hit ( mostlikely ) and 2+ to wound. Strength 7, or even 9 means that the Banner of strength that your opponent made sure he had is now useless. Ok, all that over the general, next I go into the regiments. The Bretonnians can have 75% of their army's points in characters, that is 1500 points of characters if you are playing a 2000 point game. Use this !!!!!!!!! get one large regiment of about 5 heros (I don't think 5 heroes constitute a unit,) , each with a separate virtue which affects the whole unit ... imagine that, every virtue that could help the whole unit, in ONE package !!! also bring a HIGH ELF wizard to put in the regiment, level 4 if possible (cheesy, if it's a Brettonian army use Brettonian stuff)...... you cannot charge withought line of site, therefore your opponent will place many hills in your path, Assault of Stone works great in this situation. Also replace the bowmen ( unless they are the bowmen of Bergerac ) with 20 high elf bowmen (once again, why bother with Brettonia if you are going to use Elves) , they can fire 2 ranks deep. I think you got an idea on how I think so you can finish your army on your own. Now, playing the battle. Listen up tendertoe: CHARGE !!!!!!!!!! thats all I really need to say. ALWAYS march move and ALWAYS charge when you think you got good range on them. Knights can do more damage than bowmen so dont worry if they can shoot or not. Take the bowmen and cover the knight's flanks. If one enemy, just one, gets you your rear ........may god save you.....Standards and Musicians are FREE FREE FREE for Bretonnian Knights so take them in every knightly regiment. Make sure to place as little terrain as possible, and what you must place just set it to the side. The idea to set up terrainin your favor is so no matter what table edge you are on, you have an open middle field and your flanks are covered ...... Something I have learned about the Skaven army .... NEVER and i repeat NEVER charge a unit of those guys that swing the poisonous flails, they WILL kill your knightly regiments.
