Here will be a list of tactics for a slaanesh army brought to you by many members of
slaanesh.
This is a list of tactics I used against an undead army with a
Slaanesh chaos for a victory of 30 to 12, and so I thought I would submit them because
they worked pretty good for me, so I hope the work as good if not better after being
improvised by another. I don't want to say to exact what to do, because you will probably
have different models, and you and your opponent will think somewhat different then me and
my opponent.
1) undead character models: personally I feel that chaos is the only army that has
stronger character models than the undead. Use this idea to cause psychological warfare in
your opponent. Get a couple of the biggest and baddest models you have, a keeper of
secrets always puts the fear of Slaanesh into them in small games (3000 points). Have that
killer model/unit just march right towards the general. Even vampire lords fear those
things in small games because they can't afford daemon slayers and such. If your lucky the
general will get killed, if your unlucky you will force the general to spend the entire
game running while you pick which units die. A couple dispell scrolls and the amulet fire
won't hurt either. They are both cheap and it'll stop "gaze of Nagash" or
"Summon Undead Horde" when you really don't want them cast.
2) Units: lots of the undead units cause fear, so with a Slaanesh army take many champions
as they will never run, and if for some reason you flee the champion will up the unit for
a while. Take the rapturous standard and/or dread banner to just ignore the fear. Other
than those two items, not much else is needed as Chaos troops will mop up any
skeletons/zombies they come into contact with. As far as magic weapons against units, take
the banisher sword. At 25 points its a steal. Give it to a hero or someone in a unit and
designate that unit to go kill wights/mummies. With d3 wounds caused the character can mop
up even these units with out wasting too many points. Also take those units which cause
fear: minotaurs, dragon ogres, trolls, etc. These guys are immune to fear and they can
usually fight really good (especially when compared to skeletons). Not many magic items
are needed for these guys. They will attract fire, but the undead really can't dish out to
much from shooting. The only real danger posed by undead units is either they will have a
massive amount of ranks, or the troops will be super tough. But multiple wound attacks,
and models with 2+ attacks can mop up.
3) War machines: Screaming skull catapults can be a mild problem with their panic tests,
but their range of 48" and the high leadership of chaos usually out weigh that.
Either take harpies to get them out of your hair, or ignore them. Because if you charge
quickly into hand to hand they will run out of targets. Chariots only pose a real threat
when they are summoned. Because then you can't maneuver around them, kill the steeds, or
tie them up before they charge. Those that aren't summoned can be attacked with harpies or
shot at by centaurs. They are pretty easy to nullify. Against those summoned, the only
real thing is to take the S5 hits. Against chaos that's not too bad.
4) good luck, and may your dice roll 6's.
