If you ever have played agains Orcs&Goblins I think you have
noticed their Fanatics. Yes, they are very deadly indeed. And they are extra deadly agains
Elves because they have such low Toughness. In my early days of warhammer playing I onced
charched a unit of Night Goblins with my main kicking unit. It was made up of 7
Silverhelms, a standard bearer, a champion and Tyrion. After the drugged Fanatics had
whirled through the unit only Tyrion and the champion was left. Well, learning can be
tough sometimes. From that on I have tried many tactics to get rid of these Fanatics. And
now, finally I have came up with a good one.
The solution is to use Great eagles and a unit of archers. Very simple isn't it? What you
do is to put your Great eagles (I use two) as close to the enemy as you can during your
deployment face. When the battle begins the first thing you do is to fly 24" towards
the nearest Night goblin unit. Hopfully the Fanatics is forced to come out on the first
turn. The eagle will probebly die but he's so far away you won't need to take any panic
tests, and they only cost 75p. Now you may shoot down the Fanatics with your archers or
ofcourse (This is always nice) watch them bring death and destruction to their own units
as they most likely turn around the next turn.
Look at the expression on your opponents face, laugh and charge forward ...
