Bart's Undead Tactics

1. My personal favorite tactic is this. When selecting your spells for your lvl 4 wizard (and if you don't have one then you should be shot) make sure to take one Dark magic spell. Then, all the dispel cards you receive may be used as powers!! Want to cast even more spells? Mount your mage on a steed and give him the Book of Secrets. Use up M first, then BS, then I, then stop using it. Important!!! This tactic has been open to a lot of debate. The Games Workshop and GW Mail Order Rulez Boyz in my area (Toronto) have said it is a valid tactic. But some other stores/GWs/tourneys might disallow it based on the idea that only beastman shamen can mix spells. Check with the GW in your area before attempting this.

2. Have two wights accompany your general. One (the Wight Champion) has Van Horstmann's Speculum, the other (the Wight Lord) the Black Gem of Gnar. Charge. Use the gem to take out the opponent's best character (no need to challenge), then use the other wight to neutralize his second best. Your general is now free to wreak havoc in the unit. Works well as a defensive strategy as well.

3. [NOTE: this crummy idea is one of the cheesiest ideas ever, and your opponent is rightly justified in shooting you for using it...that being said, enjoy!] Take a Vampire Hero with the Carstein Ring and the Forbidden Rod. Select powerful spells like the Curse of Years and mount him on a steed. Move to within a threatening position and use the Rod to cast your spells with Total Power. Resurrect if/when you eventually die. Run from your opponent who is very steamed at being cheesed, and rightly so!!

4. The tactical nuke strategy. Mount Settra or a mummy tomb king on a steed. Arm him with the heart of Woe and charge towards the largest enemy unit. Fight and kill a lot before dying, at which point you'll kill a hell of a lot more.

5. The mini-nuke strategy. Put a wight champion on a steed with a unit of 5 horsemen. Give him the heart of woe and charge. Since wights never flee (they're just destroyed) he'll die eventually, do a lot of damage and tie up a strong enemy unit.

6. When facing Elves, well placed screens of 5 ghosts prevent missile fire from being directed towards your units. Don't forget that ghosts cannot use Vanhels, so position them well. Putting a Vampire in a unit of Wraiths protects him from fire as well. Remember, ghosts and Wraiths can both use the Look Out Sir!!! rule.

7. Select a Necromancer Lord and mount him on a steed. Give him the Book of Secrets and the I 10 sword (I forget its name). Now use the book to cast each spell an extra time each turn. Deplete your M, then BS, then I. A great way to power spells!!

8. Take the Banner of Sorcery and Chalice of Sorcery. These items may not seem like much but in combination with the above tactic and the first tactic you can have magic phases which last over 30 minutes! The idea is to force your opponent to power up his dispels and then cast the spell again. The more cards you have the more chance he'll eventually run out of ways to stop you. You also increase your chance of getting Escape , Drain Magic and Total Power.
