Battle No.4 Undead (4000) vs. Greenskins (3000)
The wife and snotlings are out of town again and it's time to get some battles in. I was to play against an Undead army of 4000 points. I have not commanded greenskins in several years but thought 3000 points worth of boyz would do the job. Fortunately, my opponent allowed practicality to overcome his decision to use 5 counters to represent a squadron of Manticores! ( Manticore? I don't see any manticores. We agreed that 1 would be an appropriate number to represent with counters)

T1 Greenskins Right Flank advances but stays out of charge reach of undead chariots. Savage orcs and night gob bow advance but not yet in shooting range. Manticore flys high.
4 Boltshooters aim at skullchuckers, destroying one of the T5 machines (more effective than shooting at crew)
Shield of Ptolos allowed to be cast on mummies as I would be charging them in my next turn anyway. Mist of Duthandor on middle chariot. Flesh to Stone and Cloak of Dain on Shamen thanks to the extra magic cards due to my Savage orc and NGob shamen. NGob is Bufoed while testing the defenses of the mummy unit with the staff of flaming death (only enemy in range). No problem - that's what low level mages are used for.
T1 Undead Foot advance. chariots stationary. Manticore and carrion fly high.
Skullchuckers miss/ fail to wound a boltthrower.
NGob reverts from toad status. Vanhels allowed to be thrown on mummies. Vlad eadbutted. Ngobs with double handed weapons are Hand of Gorked into left chariot.
T2 Greenskins Manticore charges manticore inflicting one wound. 4 Chariots charge mummies, killing vlad and mannfred with the battle standard. Inflict 21 wounds on mummies who break and are destroyed. Night gobs do several wounds on chariot, which evaporates due to combat resolution. Wolfriders charge right chariot- destroyed. Warlord refrains from a frenzied charge as the available opponents are completely swarmed by greenskins already. Vlad returns in contact with my Warlord.
Boltthrowers kill another skullchucker. Savage orcs and xbows kill some skeletons.
Foot of Gork (Da Krunch) deviates off the wraiths and kill 9 skeletons. Hand of Gork moves chariot unit (unsure if this is legitimate but my opponent allowed it) into the skeletons. Nagash's armour saves him from the standard. 4 attempts by Nagash to cast Dark Mist are dispelled. Probably unnecessary as he can't leave combat other than by teleporting. Ere we Go cast on WarLord- The +1T and stike first would be needed against vlad. Ring of Corin rolls 4 on 2D6 and fails to neutralise Vlad's Golden Helm of Atrazar. Drat!
T2 Undead
2 skull chuckers miss.
We decided that Nagash would have to test vs the effects of the standard each turn. He dies (again). Manticore breaks contact with my manticore and flys down to attack battle standard bearers chariot. Wraiths charge chariots, contacting with 3. Chariots inflict 25 wounds and take 5. Skeletons, wraiths and manticore all die / pursued to death but Manticore does kill the Standard Bearer.
Chariot attempts to charge wolfriders but Mist of Duthandor sends it to the rear.
Carrion charge Shamen Lord but they can't affect Flesh to Stone (Doh!) and Shamen lord fails to hit. Standoff.
Warlord makes 8 frenzied attacks against Vlad, thanks to ere we go, hits 4 times, wounds 4 times, and Golden Helm fails 2 saves resulting in 4 wounds from the Sword of Heroes. Bye Bye Vlad, End of Game.
VP All-0 A mistake, honest, it's not my fault his skullchuckers all missed and his chargers went into things he couldn't beat.
He got some good advice - especially on how to appropriately protect large wraith units. Now if only he can find a way to protect himself against Mork's Warbanner. _
