The first result of Gibson Federated Battlemech's Omnimech program, the PLDN-1O Paladin is a first class Assault 'Mech. Although the Omni has only just finished company trials and has yet to be released onto the open market, at least six Paladins has been given to the Silver Knights for revue, prompted speculation that the 'Mech may replace the Albatross as the exclusive domain of the Knights of the Inner Sphere. Free Worlds Defense Industries has declined to issue a formal statement, not willing to insult the Knights by refusing them the opportunity to claim the 'Mech, or to try to force the status on the Paladin. Certainly, the Omnimech is both aptly named and well suited to the Knights, although, with the amount of interest expressed in this new 'Mech, it appears unlikely that other buyers would be cut out.
