Dumb Battletech Tricks
Yes, indeed, this part of my site is devoted to silly things you can do within the Battletech rules. My current favorite DBT is putting Arrow IV on a Helicopter. Can't be done? The Yellow Jacket can pack a Gauss, so why not? If you've got the answer to that one, e-mail me and explain why it can't be done. And don't use logic. That's not what the game's about.
Other Dumb Battletech Tricks:
- 300 ton Submarines or Displacement Hulls. Has anyone else tried doing this? I did the surface version and ended up sticking 4 Arrow IV Systems on the back 'cause I had the spare room! This is after packing enough Gauss Rifles & LB 10-Xs to make anybody happy. Ok, they go at 1/2, but who cares?
- Putting Infantry into Naval Vessels. Unless I'm very much mistaken, they die as soon as they disembark.
- Putting an AC/2 in a 'Mech's head. 'Nuff said.
- 2.5 ton Hydrofoils with XL engines being used as ultra ram vehicles. You can do similar things with Hovercraft, but it goes a lot faster on hydrofoils. Then again, most of the maps don't have long straight stretches of water hexes, so your chances of getting to ram something to good effect are pretty slender. Not that anybody should care about the practical use of such a vehicle! (suggested by Paul)
Any further suggestions?
