Looking like 1 foot tall orks, snotlings are also called Shi Ka'rie (shy ka ree), which translates from drow as 'Lolth's Wimsy'. They are the direct result of Lolth's involvement with Gruumsh in the creation of orks. She felt he needed a sense of humor. Also, they worship her, and will do as she says unless it's to harm any orks.
Snotlings ape the actions of the orks around them in an exagerrated manor, much to the annoyance of the orks around them. Only the black orks actually seem to like the snotlings.
Combat
Snotlings attack with whatever they can scrounge, typically broken daggers, sticks and the like. They ape the actions of any orcs nearby. If the ork attacks, so do they. If the orks run, then they run.
Individually, snotlings are relatively harmless. However, as many as 10 snotlings can and will attack 1 human-sized creature. 15 can attack large creatures. Small creatures will face 5 snotlings. It is this mob attack that makes snotlings so deadly.
Habitat / Society
Snotlings live in and around orkish communities. They infest the place like rats. Shamans will use them as familiars and a few other orks will adopt one as a pet. Aside from this, snotlings have no society and act much like unruly pets.
Ecology
Snotlings were intentionally created by Lolth to repay Gruumsh for failing to uphold his part of the bargain. It wasn't until it was too late that he realized what she was up to. Most orks tolerate the snotlings they are useful, however balck orks actually feel a strange affection for them. Many powerful ork warlords keep several around as pets. Black orks are hte only orks that refer to them as Shi Ka'rie. Why this is, only Lolth knows.
