High Energy\Free-Style\House\Pop\Techno
Just in case all of you can't tell the difference between high-energy, free-style, etc. (or you just never heard of them), I guess I'll have to tell you, won't I (can't do nuttin' for yourself!)...
HIGH ENERGY: That fast music there always playing in the mix. Almost any sort of fast music can be considered High Energy. Except High Energy music ALWAYS has lyrics and is ALWAYS about some girl talking about some guy or some guy talking about some girl (you know what I meen). Fast R&B music isn't considered High Energy nor is rapping (H.E. never has rap in it). Lastly, High-Energy music goes as fast as about 125-145 ticks a minute.
FREE-STYLE: Sounds exactly like High Energy but there's one major difference... Free-Style is taking a slow song and making it sound fast. Such as, KAI makes Free-Style music (that's why they always have a slow and fast version to each of their songs) while M:G is just purely High Energy (cuz there is no slow version to her song). Slow R&B songs made fast may also be considered High-Energy (like INOJ). Free-Style songs are often double the speed of the original song in order to prevent pitch distortation (i.e. a 65 ticks pm song is made fast at 130 ticks pm).
POP (H.E. STYLE): There are a lot of Pop artists that make songs "High Energy" style. They are basically the same as High-Energy artists except that they aren't local artists (so though their music is played across the U.S., you'll never see them in clubs). The Real McCoy and Haddaway are examples of these Pop artists.
TECHNO: Unlike High-Energy where the lyrics are important, in Techno, the lyrics aren't (usually, it'll be repeating phrases or even no words at all). However, the background is important. Sometimes, it'll often sound like it's repeating itself over and over. Sometimes, the background changes a lot. "Around the World" is an example of a techno song they play on the radio.
HOUSE: It's as fast as High-Energy but it sounds like R&B (usually). They usually mix these kind of songs with H.E. songs. Quad City D.J.'s is an example of this.
LATIN HOUSE: I dunno why they call it "Latin" House. Yeah, it's sang by Latinos but it don't really sound like House music. Oh well. You can tell when a song is considered Latin House when it sounds like a cha-cha sorta' song with a hyped-up H.E. beat. Latin House is always danceable (if you find one that isn't, tell me!).
SNIPPETS: Not really songs but short sequences, maybe with some lyrics that DJ's put in the mix if they want to change the speed of their mix (such as if they've been playing fast High Energy songs for a while and want to throw in some rap songs, they gotta put in one of these songs).
Here are some of the artists that I could remember off the top of my head (well, really of the top of my friends' heads but I did type it so give me some credit!). These are all High Energy\Free-Style Local Artists (well, at least I think so). I'll add more later...
