Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm puts players in charge of a squad of highly-trained military operatives fighting to stop deadly mercenaries and drug traffickers in a near-future Columbia. These dangerous missions will take place is a variety of locations from small villages, to sweltering jungles, to war-torn train stations. Stealth will be a key factor for victory, as players must descend upon enemies in camouflage and from the shadows like specters (hence the name "Ghost Recon"). Stealth along with the latest military gadgets and weaponry will ensure players have a fighting chance against these powerful mercenaries on their home turf. When playing solo, you can choose Campaign mode and follow your team's exploits across Columbia, or pick Firefight, Defend, or Recon mode to jump directly into the action. If you get tired of playing with yourself (minds out of the gutter), you can choose from a cool assortment of multiplayer options, where supposedly up to eight players will be able to join in for either co-op or death match missions, thanks to the miracle of wireless BlueTooth connectivity. Ghost Recon plays in the first-person perspective and features a control scheme that is similar to THQ's Red Faction. The D-Pad controls aiming (center clicking the D-Pad zooms in and out with certain ranged weapons) while 2, 8, 4, and 6 control moving forward, backward, strafing left and strafing right respectively. Start exorcising those thumbs because nearly all of the N-Gage's buttons are used - 1 throws grenades, 3 issues team commands, 5 shoots your weapon, 7 cycles through weapons, 9 makes your player knell down/stand up, 0 toggles the map, * reloads and # changes team members. Still with us? That's okay we don't even remember what button does what. Needless to say, we are a bit concerned that players might suffer from too-many-buttonitis in the heat of battle, but until we actually get our hands on it, we'll give it the benefit of the doubt. We'll have more on this interesting military FPS/simulation game as soon as we are able to get some hands-on time with it. So until then be sure to check out our first batch of screens by clicking below. -- Chadd Chambers |
