HAPPY BIRTHDAY ELVIS
Today I’m as old as Elvis ever got.
Tomorrow I’ll be older than Elvis.
He believed he wouldn’t outlive his mother.
He didn’t.
I thought that was karmic.
Then I thought maybe I wouldn’t outlive my
mother.
I thought that was ridiculous.
I won’t outlive Elvis!
That’s a possibility -
thanks to AIDS and serial killers and religious
terrorists
and the Information Superhighway and the
fact that I’m putting a noose around my
neck right now, as we speak.
Ahhhh, what the hell does Elvis care about
any of this?
He’s making more money and more appearances
than he ever did.
Me, I’m jumping off this chair.
Happy Birthday, Elvis.
See ya soon.
