Reunion
Highlights (contributed by Jana and a lot of helpers)
The reunion
was a great success! Over 100 people turned out for the event. It
was great to see everyone there. Here are some highlights
- Friday
night Fox & Hound - "I've never seen it that crowded!"
Lots of people turned out for the first night. Brady Kemp and Maybell
were having the most fun! See photo below. That night Meg Kelly,
Cheleta Johnson, Kelly Hannan, Heather Mathewson, and Kelly McGrath
made an appearance among the many others that would go to the other
events. (see photos of people who attended)
- Saturday
picnic at Haswell park -we got to see people's kids
. The Wood
twins, McDermott kids- 3 of them, Kim (Johnson) Sink's 3 month old,
Mary (House) Barnett's daughter and son, Jana (Moots) Rupnow chasing
her two year old, the Allison's 2 cuties, Wilkerson's boys, Maybell's
8 year old son, who did we miss?
.
- Saturday
night was a hit! Mike Parr broke out the stymie- 8 years out of
practice. He said after the first few kicks it all came back to
him. Does anyone have pictures of it?
- Karoke
was a surprise! Maybell sang "I Will Survive" and
. Larry Darcey sang, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" by
Poison, right?, Alex Medlock sang RESPECT, right?, Who else
sang that night?
- Awards-Christine
Crompton has lived in the most cities since high school, Cole
Matson has most animals
over 12 right?, Tim Wood has the
most kids- 4. The real animals kept the party going after the
reunion thanks to Atticus. It was like stepping back in time.
I understand it lasted until 5 am and included some pool time.
- The
High School tour on Sunday was really amazing! There is very little
left that you would actually recognize. It looks very modern inside,
the brown carpet and white walls, and blue lockers are all gone.
Replacing them is gray and maroon tiling with gray walls and maroon
railing. The courtyard is gone (no more trashing it, or in our class's
case, planting stuff). Although the interior has been completely
remodeled and updated it had a bit of a cold "sterile"
feel to it. Both gyms that were there in our days are now gone.
They have been replaced by two new gyms side by side. The high school
now offers certification in computer programming, and teaches PC
repair. They also had a very impressive CAD lab set up. They also
had a very big foreign language A/V lab. The Auditorium is actually
smaller now but had a very modern "computerized" production
room. There is a mock hospital room set up, and students can actually
now go out on rounds with doctors in the local hospitals. You can
get most of your nursing training at high school! They also had
a GIS lab and a large horticulture/floral arrangment lab with it's
own greenhouse. They also have a TV production studio in the school
now where students broadcast news daily... it was very impressive!
Not the same old AMC we went to!
Directory
Several people at the reunion mentioned that it would be great to
have an alumni directory. This website will serve as an alumni directory
so be sure to email your contact information, and any other information
like occupation, # of kids, current residence. Don't forget to provide
your email so people can keep in touch with you.
Everyone has interesting jobs and accomplishments since high school.
There are too many to mention so we'll let the bio's tell the story.
Please send us your updated bio as things change over the years.
Next Reunion- See you in 5 years??
Instead of waiting another 10 years, we are thinking of doing a more
informal 15-year reunion. Let us know what you think. Be sure to give
us your updated email so we can keep you informed.
Thanks
Thanks again to all the people involved in planning the reunion.
