This large, hardy, friendly dog was originally developed in Switzerland to pull cheese and milk carts and to drive cows.
The coat has a jet-black ground color, with rich rust and clear white markings.
It is thick, moderately long and slightly wavy or straight.
Bernese Mountain Dogs should be groomed regularly, at least once a week.
They require daily exercise, and are excellent house dogs.
Eager to accompany master and family everywhere, this self-confident dog makes a faithful and devoted friend, and is a willing and quick learner.
