Airedale Terrier | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Airedale Terrier Breed in Brief This breed, sometimes known as the "king of the terriers," was almost certainly developed for hunting foxes, badgers, weasels and other small game animals. It was first recorded with its modern name in the English county of Yorkshire in the late 1800s. The largest of the terrier breeds, the Airedale is a sturdy dog. The coat is tan, with black markings on the sides and upper parts of the body. The dense, wiry coat requires a great deal of grooming, and owners may need to seek professional help to maintain it. Airedale Terriers are a good-natured and fun-loving breed. They have a sweet disposition and a good reputation with children, but should always be supervised during play. Height at shoulder: 22-23". Weight: 45-60 lbs. AKC group: Terriers. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
