Boxer Breed in Brief One of many descendants of the old fighting dog of Tibet, the Boxer is a cousin to practically all breeds of the Bulldog type. A dog of great courage and stamina, it reached its present form in Germany during the past century. Until dogfighting and bullbaiting were outlawed in many parts of the world in the middle of the nineteenth century, Boxers and their ancestors were used for those purposes. The Boxer's short coat is fawn or brindle in color, with white markings. This breed's intelligence, loyal affection and trainability make him a highly desirable companion. Alert, self-assured and fearless, he is an instinctive guard dog. His impeccable judgment has also given him much success as a herder and seeing-eye dog. Height at shoulder: male, 21-25". Weight: 60-70 lbs. AKC group: Working Dogs. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
