Spring is just around the corner, and so is the Celebrity Place Annual General Meeting {AGM}.
That means it's election time, too!
At this year's AGM, two directors of the five-member Celebrity Place Board of Directors will complete their elected term, and their positions will be available to be filled. There may be a 3rd position available for election with the potential resignation of another director.
Serving as a condo director-- an unpaid, volunteer position -- is the highest form of community service a person could offer to fellow residents in the Celebrity Place community, MTCC 678 Owners' Association co-chair Jim Bondett told Owners attending the Association's February meeting.
However, being a director is no easy task. Assisting in the "day to day mechanics" of our condominium complex is an onerous undertaking that demands a considerable amount of work as well as a substantial time commitment from the Board Members. Yet, it can also be very satisfying and personally enriching and a rewarding way to contribute to our condo community and help make it a better home for all residents.
What exactly should Celebrity Place residents expect from the candidates for whom they will cast votes for at the AGM? The Owner's Association posed that very question to residents at last month's meeting.
Owners gathered into four groups to discuss the topic: "What qualities/characteristics do you feel that a person running for a directors position of Celebrity Place should possess and demonstrate?" Not surprisingly, owners said they expect Board candidates to display honesty and integrity. It was also agreed that it is important for directors to possess other key traits and skills as well.
One group of owners suggested that an ideal candidate would be a person who possesses solid leadership skills -- someone capable of exercising the challenging and multifaceted role of communicator, bridge builder, and diplomat. Another group said that someone who can bring to the Board a personal background of other useful and pertinent skills, such as technical ability or experience with financial management, also would be a highly desirable candidate.
