Daisy Queen's Game Review

Unfortunately, the Daisy Queen is indisposed and unable to give her reivew. So I, Zafriel will stand in for her.

Neversoft Entertainment has struck gold with Tony Hawk's Pro Skater! This fluid, versitile gem for Sony's Playstation is bound to become a cult hit with hard-core and recreational gamers everywhere.

From the moment we plugged in, we were hooked on this fast paced game! Not being a truly expert console gamer( I am much more a master on my PC), I personally approached THPS tenatively and with no little trepidation, knowing that I was certainly going to show my skills at throwing myself clumsily into the pavement. So I was suprised and massively relieved when I found that the game controls were simple, to the point and easy to learn. Heck, half of the time I am just pushing buttons and holding my breath and I can still score! Through proper application of moves, even the youngest of players can navigate the first two levels of this hit,( my six year old nephew made it through the first three levels after my brother showed him the basics.), though the later levels require higher amounts of skill to complete. Personally, I hate the Downhill stage, what a pain! Game play in THPS is wonderful. There are constantly new ways to play every level. The rage here is 'gap' contests. They see who can get the most gaps on every level while keeping the score around 70 thou or higher. Sheesh! Give a girl a chance will ya?

The graphics on this game are very nice, with great detail in the various levels and on the skaters. The only thing that has been raised by the numerous people that have played this game in my office and at home, is that they would like to see the damage on the skaters. Sickos...hehe. Other than that, not one negative thing has come to my ears about how this game looks.

Soundtrack. That is a make or break thing in my opinion. You could have a great playing game, but if the soundtrack stinks, it will get on your nerves quickly. This is my favorite thing about THPS. The soundtrack. What can I say but awesome! With offerings from bands such as; The Dead Kennedys, Suicidal Tendencies and Primus, to name a few, how can you go wrong?

All in all, this game is definitely worth the money. THPS possesses a versitility that will keep even the most jaded of players happy as there are infinite combinations available with every skater.

THPS ratings.
