Big Papa had several older brothers and at least two sisters. There was a Thomas Wysinger, Calvin Wysinger, Paten or Palen Wysinger, Rachel Wysinger and May Wysinger. We know that Big Papa had a cousin named David Wysinger. His family seemed to be from East St. Louis, Illinois, Peoria, Illinois or some where outside of Chicago. We know that David Wysinger's family is still in that area. There are many Wysingers in Texas, California, Illinois and Ohio. The Wysinger family we belong to started out in Alabama. John Wysinger was born in 1813, probably in Georgia. His wife, Etna or Edna was born in 1817, probably in Virginia. We welcome contact from any Wysingers, who are willing to share information. Since Big Papa was the youngest of the family, we do not have a complete accounting of all the siblings. Some such as Thomas, had children as old or older than Big Papa. We do know Thomas Wysinger may have died in 1915. The Family believes Calvin Wysinger may have lived in Ohio. | ||||||||||||||

We have met informally as a family since 1980. Ann Wheaton and Evelyn Hardy have been responsible for the gatherings. The Toney, Felix, and McCray branches had be the main participants. In 1991, Evelyn's daughter, Rachelle began assembling the current Wysinger Family Document. She mailed copies to her mother,Evelyn Hardy, her 1st cousin Deborah J. Owens, her second cousin, my daughter Mallory-Linda, and myself. In 1994, my daughter began to actively pursue getting the document finished. It was a that time that we began having more formally organized Family Reunions. | Family Reunions | ||||||||||||||

| Remembering Our Loved Ones |
We are working towards getting grave headstones for family members who do not have them. Big Papa and Big Mama will be the first to get one. It is very hard to locate the gravesite at present because of not having the markers. It is the goal to have as many as possible before the year 2000. | ||||||||||||||
