Entry Six

August 25, 98. 1:37 pm. Well hello there. How is everyone out there in cyberspace? Good, I hope. So, on with the concert!

Okay. The day began with me and Liz going shopping. We went to the Mall of NH in Manchester for a change. We looked at clothes (I bought jeans, Liz bought a shirt) and then Liz had to look at an anniversary present for her parents. After 2 hours or so, she decided on champagne glasses. She packaged them in a basket with chocolate in the glasses and the basket. It looked nice. So, we left the Mall around 1:35 pm or so. Then we went to find Pier 1 to find the basket. We took a wrong trun and ended up on the highway. We got right off, and then found our way back to the main road. Well, just our luck, we found Pier 1, and right next door was Friendly's, where we ate. So, we left Manchester around 3:15, and we were supposed to be at Sarah's at 4. We were a 1/2 hr late, but that's okay. It all worked out. Anyway, we (me, Liz, Sarah, Melanie, Sarah, and Kathy) were all at Sarah's when it started to pour out, then the thunder and lightning began. All of a sudden, there was this HUGE clap of thunder, and lightning hit a tree down the road. It was the loudest thing I had ever heard, and it was so scary!!! Anyway, we left around 5 pm, and then ate supper at McDonald's, where Kathy ate a cheesburger in 4 bites. Yes, 4 bites. But you can't blame her; she wanted to be the winner of the contest. So we arrived at Harborlights at 6:30 or so, an hour before the concert would begin. We all hung out, and then the lights dimmed and Billie Myers began to sing. Now, none of us were very excited to see her. She was amazing, though. We all liked her performance. I loved the begining of "Tell Me." She also sung the first part of "Teen Spirit" by Nirvana in the middle of one of her songs. She climed up part of this pole where people directed the spotlights, and she sung "Kiss the Rain." Then she was gone, only after 40 minutes or so. By then, we were all psyched for Savage Garden, and they came on at about 8:40 pm. They were awesome! There was this one song where Darren (the lead singer, who everyone thought was hot) and these two female singers came out in these robes over their clothes. I forget what song it was, but it was very disco-ish. The 3 of them sung part of "Spice up Your Life" by none other than the Spice Girls. However, during their songs Darren kept grabbing his private area, and it bothered me a little. He reminded me of Michael Jackson, and he scares me. But I got over it. They also sung part of "Teen Spirit," during one of their songs. Then they all left, and the crowd's applause was thunderous. Of course, Savage Garden came back on, and sung "One Time" (one of my new faves) and "One of Us" by Joan Osbourne. Then all of the group left, except for Darren. He sat on one of the speakers and sung "Closing time.... you don't have to go home but you can't stay here." It was cool. I loved it. Here's what the Boston Globe had to say about the concert. This school year, all of the crew will have to go to some concerts. Yay.

Yeah, so now it's October 9, 1998, a Friday, and about 5:02 pm. We have a 3day weekend because of Columbus Day on Monday. Adding to the last sentence up above..... Me, Deanna, Sarah, and Danielle are going to see DAVE!!!!! Dave Matthews Band, that is. I am psyched. Sorry if I talk about it often; I'm just excited. Well, I know I haven't written in a wicked long time, but school has been wicked busy. Well, it's now November 15, Sunday, 4:20 pm. Oooh, 4:20, you know what that means.... I'm just kidding. I guess it's time for an update on everything. Well, I suppose I will begin with my group of friends. We're all in this fight, I guess. Well, not really. It's just that we all have these unresolved issues with each other, and we all need to have a group discussion. We tried one night, but we could only get together for 30 minutes. But stuff did happen that night, I think for the better. Hopefully we'll all be able to talk soon. Um, next weekend I'm going to a Harvard/Yale football game with Shelley and her family, and I know it will be fun. And 2nd quarter in school started about 2 weeks ago, and my Advanced Writing class ended. It was, and always will be, the best class ever. I think I'm going to add some of the things I wrote to my page, so be on the lookout. Let's see.... I saw the movies "the Waterboy" and "Pleasantville," both were good. I guess I am getting boring now, so I will go. Update: it's November 26, 1998, Thanksgiving. The game was wicked fun. Just thought I'd tell you. Guess what's in 11 days? Oh boy.
