World War II (1939-1945)
World War II (1939-1945) marked several turning points in the history
of mankind. Aside from the large number of casualties, it saw the
rise (and ultimate fall) of fascism in Europe, the end of the Great Depression,
the first Atomic Bomb, and the rise of two world superpowers - The Soviet
Union and The United States of America. It was also the first truly
World War, with battles fought in Europe, Asia, the Pacific Ocean, parts
of Africa, and the Middle-East.
