- One focus of high school social studies is the use of primary resource documents. This is a major attribute of the web, it's often available. Given that any teacher may use this, I used the "print-out-and hand in" format for the lessons. The questions may be convereted to CGI if a teacher wants to make it their own, and of course, make changes. The lessons progress, the first one is a combination of information about the causes of US involvement in WW1 and an exercise in becoming familiar with using the Internet resources. The lessons include using map resources, reading digitized primary resources, newspaper articles from that time, art, and timelines. I contacted the web master at Trenches on the Web, always good to get permission) and he was thrilled to share the resource for k-12 education. Most of the WW1 sites originate in Britain. The follow up lesson is still undeveloped.
Future: The site will be updated next year if I am teaching the subject again. With the new SOL's, there may need to be changes, or emphasis. For example, the first hand experience article about the sinking of the ships by German subs may need to be changed to an article about the sinking of the Luscitania.

It was hidden among the links and the students were to do a study on the reliability of related resouces on the web. They were to identify which resouces are reliable and to identify hidden characteristics in web based instruction that may ind
