Hanalei, a Magical Place Where the Dragon Lives


Chess Board Fields

"Puff the magic dragon, live by the sea... in a land call Hanalei...." When Peter, Paul, and Mary wrote that song, they took the name from this little town on the northern coast of Kauai. The following pictures show the almost magical chess board like fields from a scenic point above Hanalei. The second photo below shows the famous Hanalei bridge.

Taro Fields by the Bay

The first photo below is taken at the road corner just across the bridge in the second photo above. In the photo, someone is flying a kite in the middle of the taro field. The second photo below shows Hanalei Bay from the cliff at Princeville. Hanalei and Princeville are neighboring towns.
