The process of creating this album cover was time consuming, but well worth the effort in my opinion. First, some preliminary sketches were drawn out (with the fractal sky-scape indicated by a small print). After completing the pencil sketch and confirming this was the right direction, I finished the inking and scanned the board. Quickly edited, this image was presented to Shane for the final go-ahead. The final product has 6 layers, a sunset photo from a small digital camera, two images of a Mandelbrot fractal zoom in a region where the are 5 major spires or stalks that eminate from behind the 5 baby skeletons in a pentagram. The original fractal image was layered to make it look more like it is glowing in front of the clouds. Also there is a lake with spikes rising up that is coloured from behind and the original image layered on top semi-transparent. The last layer is the original scan, with the background showing through. Detail of the horned beast's head.
