My Mother's Temple
For Mom...
In the darkness it came, like a theif in the night...
It came with stealth, so much so, that we were unable to
fight.
On silent feet it tread...
Insinuating itself, bringing with it sadness and dread.
What began with just a simple black spot
Soon turned into a spiraling deadly blotch.
As it stole through your body, it began to steal your life
This disease that came upon us so suddenly, has filled
our lifes with strife
This thing they called Cancer soon raced through your body
Through your lungs, your glands, your stomach, and brain
And now, as I look into your anguished eyes,
It is all I can do not to cry.
In your heart of hearts, Momma, I know, your pain is as
bad as mine
I know you weep, even if you try to hide it when you cry
I pray the Gods will keep you safe
As soon they shall call you, and they are never late.
When you look down upon me from the heavens above,
I hope you will know that you will always hold my love.
I hope you will know that you will always remain
Nearby in my heart,
And that you know, my life will never be the same.
