While rotating objects in PowerPoint they rotate about the centre by Default. But that doesn't mean everything always rotates around the centre-and we don't mean politics. Holding the Ctrl Key down enables you to rotate objects around the corners. Rotate using the corner opposite to your desired pivotal corner.
Want your presentation to always up as a slide-show. As we keep saying, Show-How is more important than Know-How. While saving use File>Save As to save as a PowerPoint show.Changing the extension of the file to .PPS instead of .PPT would also do the trick. The file opens up as a PowerPoint Show when Double-clicked from Explorer too.
GIF and PNG Files retain their transparent effect in Power-Point. However, for TIF images, the properties have to be set manually after importing the graphic. Right-click on the graphic and select Show Picture Toolbar which has a Set Transparent button. Click on this and then select the color you want to make transparent.
Have you crammed too much text on your slide?You could be more concise and, since this is not a lesson in English, You could split it into multiple sildes using Expand Silde option under Tools menu
Apart from line and connector AutoShapes all others have a built-in-linked text feature. Clicking on them gives a text cursor where you can type in the text you want linked. This text remains attached even if the AutoShape is moved, resized or rotated.
View>Slide Miniature option gives you a handy way of keeping watch on how your slide is shaping up, while you continue working in the outline mode. This saves you from the hassel of shifting frequently between Outline view and Slide view.

The Pack and Go utility available on the Office 97 CD and also online, can be used for distribution of presentations for people without PowerPoint. Pack & Go stores the presentation in both PowerPoint 97 and PowerPoint 7.0 formats. This is the reason why the 'unpacked' presentation is much larger than the original.
For assistance in positioning and lining your objects on the screen use the 'guidelines' provided in View menu. 2(1 horizontal and 1 vertical) are provided as default. However you can make more copies by holding Ctrl key and dragging. Dragging them off the page will delete the created ones. For removing the default giudes turn them off from View menu item.
When you drag slides between presentations, the slide is moved as default. To force copy, hold down the Ctrl Key. You could also use the Right clickdrag, in which case you get a dialog box on releasing all slide at destination. Select move copy or cancel in the dialog box.
Convert your favorite PowerPoint 97 picture into a 'watermark' so that any text will display over it. Select a ClipArt picture, choose Format, Picture and click the picture tab. Click the down arrow at the right of the list box labelled Color to expand it.
Select Watermark to convert the picture to a watermark. Incidentally, you can even toy around with the constituent colors of the ClipArt by clicking on the Recolor button under the Picture tab and specifying different colors for different parts of the ClipArt.
