March 98-Present Operation Support Engineer: Micronair LLC

Consultant, design, and field engineer for company that manufactures and installs systems in wastewater treatment plants that eliminates biosolids residuals. Currently involved with plants in Winter Haven Florida and Albany Georgia.

 

Nov 97-March 98 Sanitary Engineer: Greeley and Hansen

Staff Engineer for international water/wastewater treatment consulting firm. Projects involved in: O&M manual for 40 MGD WWTP in Medellin Colombia; City of Tampa wastewater to drinking water reclamation project.

 

May 95-Aug 96 Civil Engineer Trainee: U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

Employed for 2 consecutive summers through the University of South Florida CO-OP program. Review drawings, administer contract provisions, and ensure quality control for civil engineering projects funded by the U.S. Government.

 

April 1995-Jan 98 WWTP Operator II: Hillsborough County,

Staff operator for a 25 ton/day sludge processing plant and a 5 MGD Bardenpho wastewater treatment plant.

 

March 1995 WWTP Chief Operator: Town of Belleair,

Florida Acting Chief Operator at the Belleair wastewater treatment plant for a 3 week period. Was hired on a temporary basis to cover for the regular Chief Operator who was suspended for disciplinary reasons.

 

Feb 1989-March 1995 WWTP Plant Manager: City of Largo, Florida

Responsible for daily operations and maintenance of a 15 MGD advanced wastewater treatment plant using the A2O process. Prepared monthly operating reports. Prepared annual and 5 year budgets. Wrote equipment specifications. Participated in design, construction, start up, and operation of TETRA de-nitrification filters, aerobic digesters, and a sludge pelletizer. Participated in relations with the Florida Department of Environmental Regulation and the U.S. EPA. Responsible for 28 employees.

 

March 1986-Feb 1989 WWTP Operator II: City of St Petersburg, Florida

Started as a belt filter press operator. Promoted after 3 months to plant operator. Hands on operation at three of the city’s wastewater treatment facilities. These were all secondary plants in the 15-20 MGD range.

 

March 1985-Feb 1986 WWTP Operator: City of Largo, Florida

Hired as a maintenance mechanic and welder. Promoted to operator after 3 months. Hands on operation and maintenance of the city’s wastewater treatment plant.

 

 June 76-May 86 Journeyman Millwright in the following settings:

Maintenance; 15 MGD wastewater treatment plant

Maintenance; Concrete roof tile manufacturing plant

Construction; 12 acre K-Mart distribution center conveyor system

Construction; Railroad wheel casting & machining plant

Construction; Columbus, Ohio airport luggage handling conveyor system

Maintenance; Automotive glass manufacturing plant

Layout, install, start-up, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical equipment. Notable projects included construction of the Columbus Ohio airport luggage handling conveyor systems, construction of a railroad wheel casting/machining plant, and construction of a K-Mart distribution center conveyor system. Electrical and mechanical maintenance at a plant that manufactured automotive, commercial, and decorative glass. Worked on large scale equipment that cut, shaped, edged, conveyed, tempered, and autoclaved glass.

Completed the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners apprenticeship program and attained Journeyman status.

 

Summer 1972- 74 City Engineer's Office

Layout and construction inspection of new streets, water lines, and sewer lines. Other projects included street repaving, property/right-o-way locations, and establishing elevations.
