In 1993, The Wu-Tang Clan debuted with their classic LP Enter The Wu-Tang: 36 Chambers. This collection of emcees, (nine to be exact),forever changed the face of hip-hop. The dark and grimy beats (arranged by The Rza),had a basement type feel to it.
The Wu is composed of nine members, who each bring an unique personality tothe group. They are The Rza, The Gza, Ol' Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Masta Killa,Method Man, Ghostface Killah, and Raekwon. All of the members, (with the exception of Masta Killa) have released solo albums. The interesting thing is that they are not all on the same label. When The Wu signed with Loud Records, they were allowed to sign with what ever record label they wanted to for their solo joints. They became the first free agents of hip-hop.
