A Dog's Day

Gotta get a bone, gotta get a bone.
Busy thoughts, busy, busy. Forest. Trees!
Lift leg and sprinkle. Ahh! Better.
Gotta get a bone, gotta find a cat.
Busy thoughts, busy, busy.
Sniff the ground, sniff the air. Hmm...
Wait a second! Found a smell. Hear a sound.
Well, can't stop, shake it off.
Gotta get a bone, gotta find a home.
Sniff the air, the smell's still there.
Okay, stop for a second. Look.
See a cave. Noises from cave.
Bear inside? Maybe cat. Sniff! Sniff!
Not a bear, not a cat.
Could be my home? Too big. Food? No food. Ahh KIDS!
See happy smiles. Smell happy thoughts.
Go inside, carefully. Found some feet.
Found some hands, see some faces.
Sneak around. Hide from giant.
Busy, busy, gotta keep busy.
Sniff a foot. Sniff a hand.
Hear a giggle. Feel a pat. Wag tail. I'm happy.
More giggles, more hands, more pats.
Lick the salt. Lay down, rub belly. Relax for a bit.
Uh! Oh! Hear some feet, big feet.
Up I get, busy, busy, gotta keep busy.
I run, the feet run.
Feel a hand grab my neck. Out I go.
Leave the cave, leave the scratching.
Sniff big leg, growl. Smells of anger.
Lift my leg...pose...and sprinkle.
Hear a scream, off I go.
Busy, busy, gotta keep busy.
I hide behind tree. I see cave. I see kids.
Remember giggles, remember touch.
No smiles now. Sad looks.
Oh well. Hot sun. I pant.
Sniff! What's this? I smell a cat.
Well, off I go. Busy, busy, gotta keep busy.
Maybe find a bone.
