This set was developed as part of two linked
tutorials on creating opals and enameled jewelry. Please, see
the tutorial for more details.
|
|
Please note, everything
on this page was created using PSP 5 and Blade Pro with the exception of the card and
silhouette clipart which were modified to make the mouseover. No actual jewelry
was scanned.

This set does have a bit of background plus a story to go with it.
My dear Grammy loved opals, but would never wear them. She always said, "Opals
mean tears if you wear them and they are not your birthstone." |
|
Being a very literal minded child, and not quite grasping the concept of
simple superstition, I rationalized that this was because opals are a congealed silicate.
They contain water and can dry out and crack. Hence, the owner would have
tears if the opals lost theirs. This is why I wanted to present the opals I created
in a teardrop form. |
|
Another thing my Grammy loved was violets and the color purple, so I
wanted to include those elements in the design, as well. |
|
But, I also wanted to provide graphics which convey a story as a visual
sub-text. |
|
I have my own idea of what the story is, but that is just my
interpretation of it. |
|
I would love to hear what story you make up in your head when you see
these "gems" and interact with them via the mouseover. |

Like most "sets" at Visual
Sonnets this one is not complete. If you
need any other components, please feel free to e-mail
