Feather Fan's Forum Experimental - on a new address, because of the demise of Inside the Web. Let me know what you think.
Feather Fashion Group. Ian's feather fashion group. Lovely pictures of feathered fashions. Ian's contribution to Featherfan's Gallery is considerable, and his group is great too.
Mikhail's Soft Spot. Has a feather links section too, and for feather fashion comments, you can go to the Soft Soft Fashion Forum (no adult postings or contact ads please).
NTCweb. There is a feather forum, sadly almost unmoderated (so beware of spam posts) and occasionally with the NTC-visitors' patented brand of pointless agression and rudeness, but this is the place for adult postings. There is also the feather upload area, with anything from good to disgusting. (I leave it to your taste which is which). The upload area is moderated though, but unfortunately this means it can take quite a while before your pictures actually appear in the list. If you want to post there, is seems you have to post under `Other'; there is a risk your pictures will end up in the fur upload area, for FrankNTC is a busy person and sometimes in a hurry.
How do I make a big showgirl type headdress?. Answer to this question posed by the inimitable Organza Towers ...
Folies Bergère. In Fnench. Once a famous cabaret,
now just a venue for musicals and, yawn, plays. There are
a few nice pictures in the `Histoire' section.
Much better is the book where these pictures come from:
Jacques Pessis, Les Folies Bergère, Fixot, n.p.,
1990. Lots of pretty pictures in here. By the same
authors Le Moulin-Rouge, Editions Hermé,
but I don't know that one.
Costume rentals. This is a big site with lots of costumes for rent, among which some very nice showgirl costumes. So, if anyone is planning a very special night with a friend ...
Firstview. The two annuals harvests of Ready
to Wear and Haute Couture fashion, with some feathered
clothing if you seek persistently.
* Ages ago there used to be a shop that sold feathered
coats and hats with its own website, called Jordan Furs. Some things are too good to last.
Gone bust or what? The firm still exists, it seems.
The numero uno classic movie goddess of feather must be Mae West. Look a little bit longer and you will find that a number of actresses have tried to add some glamour to their limbs by feather boas or feathered dresses: Jamie Lee Curtis, Ginger Rogers, Cher, Betty Grable, Valerie Perine, Drew Barrymore.
Recently I have acquired a number of books about moviestars published by Citadel Press, New York. I found them in an second hand bookshop, and even so they were quite expensive. They date back from the 60s and they are full of very nice B/W pictures. I would advice against buying them blindly, but if you e.g. happen to see those of Mae West, Ginger Rogers (remember her dress in Cheek to Cheek, anyone?) or another star who you know to have worn feathers, you might want to have a look. If you are into fur, BTW, you might like them even better.
We have a separate feathered movielist now.
* No Doubt, Excuse
Me, Mr. Leadsinger Gwen Steffani wears a Saloon girl-style
dress, with lots of feathers on it, and gets tied to the tracks.
Whatever ...
* Annie Lennox, Why? Watch Annie as she is dressing up
in a full scale showfeather outfit. Great song too. That's why.
Recently I received some information about a 60s television series Green Acres which contained quite a lot of feathered clothing, due to the plot.
