Annie looked up and there , just above her sitting on an oak limb sat a child of about 11 dressed in a black suit and tie... even his shoes shined with fresh spit and polish.

All fear left Annies mind.

"What on earth are you doing up there young man ? Shouldnt you be home in your bed ?"

"Shhh....You wont tell. Will you ?"

"I dont have time to toy with you, boy. Ive got concerns of my own at the moment. Now come down. The forest is no place for a child this time of night. Besides , who is Spooky Tooth?"

"Heh-heh...I wouldnt speak his name if i was you."

"Why ?"

"Ya really wanna know ?"

"Look ! If you dont come down this instant ...I'll hav'ta leave ya. My beau may have drown in Dark Hollers pool."

"O-o-oh i dont think he drown Lassie. See ...Ole Spooky Tooth got'im ...and now he'll have you as well."

When the sun came up later that morning, they found poor Annie , or what was left of her. A piece here, a piece there. As if some aweful night beast had dismantled her leaving a gruesome trail of body parts strewn hap-hazard back to Dark Hollows pool. Where they found her head floating in the water.

Allen was never found. Only his clothes and boots piled up thoughtlessly on the bank were discovered . Some said he killed Annie. Then drown himself and the undercurrent drew his corpse down to hell. That is until Jethro Tomson went hunting and disappeared . Then folk began to speak of a haunting .

Not long after Jethro vanished. Some kids from Oakdale High on a dare went skinny dippin' in Blood Creek near the spot where Annies head was found.

Some said a devil appeared . Others swore a boy child with green eyes, long fingernails and fangs of a wolf rose from Allens watery grave warning all...

Ever since then few ventured near the place and only when the sun burned high in a noon day sky. Never after sundown. Thus a legend was born. The Legend of Spooky Tooth. Whenever someone died mysteriously or turned up missing ..old folk would whisper , "Spooky Tooth got'em" Young'ins chide , "if you dont behave ..? Spooky will getcha !"
