Who is Cedric?

Cedric is a very happy, Brindle Cardigan Corgi who's three years old. He's a rather amiable fellow who resides in Renton WA. (Just South-ish of Seattle, for regular people, or within the Barony of Madrone for SCA folks.)
His full name is Windermere's Cedric. having come from Stewart and Judy William's Windermere Kennels of Hayden Id.. These good folks worked hard to find a pup who had just the right temperament to hang out at Chirurgein's point, where his master often puts in time as a volunteer first-aider. (Chirurgeon's Point is what folks in the SCA call their first-aid station.) The choice those good folks made has proven to be one of the finest companions a person could wish for!
Cedric's favorite activity is going to SCA tournaments, where he can actually find enough people to pay attention to him, He also enjoys keeping his back-yard free of Mister Squirrel, and Mister Possum.
Although his unruly tail has disqualified him from any AKC competitions, it has done nothing to dampen his merry temperament! Eventually, there will be a couple of other Cedric pictures showing him at his more active best!

Why Cedric of Damascus?

Not long ago at an SCA event, Cedric managed to very gently consume a rose which a lady was holding to her side. His snack began with pulling off a single petal at a time. When we noticed he was doing this we decided it had to be a "she feeds me" "she feeds me not" process. and he was so delicate in this assault on the flower that she didn't notice until Cedric had managed to pull apart half of the blossom! At that point she allowed him to finish off his repast, which left her with a stem clipped as neatly as though with shears. Since the best known roses came from Damascus.....

Cedric had me look this up for him because he'd heard so much about chocolate being dangerous for dogs: He was right!

Dogs and Chocolate: An important link

Chocolate Toxicity in Dogs

The folks at netpet.com tell us that:

  • Milk chocolate: the toxic dose for a 50 lb dog is 50 oz of milk chocolate.

So, a couple of M&Ms ain't gonna hurt your pup; but once he or she gets that chocolate craving it could be bad if they get into the baking supplies!

  • Semisweet chocolate: the toxic dose for a 50 lb dog is 15 oz of semisweet chocolate.
  • Starting to get a bit scary, eh? Well, the next is actually frightening!

  • Baking chocolate: the toxic dose for a 50 lb dog is only 5 oz of baking chocolate.
