"New Best Friend"
He is a nationally known artist with an ability to capture the humerous and realistic characterizations of his subjects. Jason studied with his father, the late Willard Stone, a world renowned wood sculptor. He has his fathers' ability to recreate the emotions, wisdom, and humor of the Cherokee people in any medium he uses.
He has taken this inherited talent, refined it, and uses it to create his own unique style of artwork.
"Big Bear Hug" Black walnut 17Inches high X 7 inches wide
Using chiefly native wood such as walnut and sassafras, Jason carves his orginal pieces with chisels and knives. He sands them by hand to perfection, finishing by hand-rubbing Tung-oil into the sculpture to enhance the beauty of the grain and to protect the wood. He then selects some pieces to become limited edition bronze reproductions.
His creations depicting the Native American way of life and their relationships with nature are awe-inspiring. Each carving tells a unique story, depicting the admiration and esteem of nature by his ancestors. Jason continually produces excellence in his work and maintains a deep respect for his heritage.
These are samples of Jasons' work, He does one of a kind originals. These sculptures all have homes all over the United States and abroad.
