HARP,
I am searching for information on Tobias Harp, b. ca. 1768 (or
earlier), probably in SC, m. Delilah ? in SC, moved to Knox Co.,
KY around the early 1800's, lived there and in Whitley Co., KY,
died ca. early 1840's.
He was a witness to a deed for a James Harp of Newberry Co., SC
in 1789. James was selling land he owned in Chester Co.
I have lots of information on Tobias and his descendants in KY
that I would be glad to share but am searching for his parents
and any other information about him in SC.

STEELE,TAYLOR, EATON
James Larkin STEELE and Sarah/Sally Ann TAYLOR were married 21
Nov 1882. I do not know where. He was living in Whitley County at
the time. He is the son of Hiram C STEELE and Mary
"Polly" EATON and was born on 5 June 1854. She is shown
on censuses as having been born in both KY and TENN. The date was
12 Sep 1864. I know nothing of her parents. I am hoping that the
record of marriage may set me on the right path. As most of you
know, Whitley County borders on Tennessee. By 1900 the couple and
their children were living in Clay County, Arkansas. This has
been a source of frustration for me for twenty years.

CUPP, HEARST / HURST
Family stories say that my great-grandfather, Andrew Jackson
CUPP, was actually born Andrew Jackson HEARST (or HURST) and was
taken in and raised by the Cupps. Because of my grandfather Jesse
Cupp's resemblance to Andrew's Cupp brothers, I suspect one of
two things: 1- the Cupps raised more than one of the Hearst
children, later adopting them (or the children simply took the
Cupp name) OR 2- the Hearsts and the Cupps were related already,
perhaps Mrs. Hearst who raised Andrew actually was born a Cupp.
Anyone else researching Cupps or Hearst/Hurst in southeastern KY?
