We boarded the train, very early in the morning, for the first leg of our Mexican Riviera Cruise. It was a beautiful day for the trip down the coast of California. |
Aboarded the Statendam, we got settled in our stateroom...our home for the next 11 days, and watched the departure from our veranda. Leaving the harbor in the late evening, we sailed south. Hasta luego, San Diego! |
|
Stan and I felt right at home on the Statendam, since we had sailed through the Panama Canal on this lovely ship, two years ago. |
This is the route that we would take, showing our ports of call. We continued to cruise south the first day and attended our first formal dinner, that night. |
When we awoke, on the morning of our second day at sea, these large rock formations that guard the harbor of Cabo San Lucas were just off the bow of the ship. |
The entrance to the harbor affords a spectacular view of the new mall that contains shops, restaurants and hotels; also, the marina for privately owned boats. |

First order of business....shopping! Dee, ever the fashion plate, and Gail are ready to go and spread some pesos around. Stan and Carroll would join us later. | We'd barely emerged from the tender, which took us ashore, when we were greeted by one of the natives. Actually he was a friendly fellow and people were standing in line to be "held up" by him...and have their pictures taken. |
