A TREASURED POSSESSION
Oh! The tragic twist's and turns this life can take!
Circumstances that often at night keep one awake.
Why has faith to some much been given
while others have nothing,
and to suicide are driven?
Oh! To have faith like the prophets of old,
who against great odds, were immensely bold.
That it would come, and in my breast reside,
that life's problems I could take then in easy stride.
Now a plea to Him that reigns above,
give me faith, for in that I know
is thy great love.
Permit it in my soul to sweetly abide,
to attain it all else I have tried.
What out of this life does one further seek?
In the pursuit of contentment
great wealth has been spent,
but then it was just temporary to one just lent.
Is not the measure of success,
that treasured possession:
a high degree of happiness?
