A Little Monkey Business
In 1960 a movie hit the screens based on a popular play that would change
the way people looked at church and state. The name of that movie was
Inherit the Wind
Below is a review of that movie, as found in "Rating the Movies". Their rating
was four stars out of four. Below is the text:
A fascinating episode in American history is brought brilliantly to
the screen in an adaption of the Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee play, about
the famour 1925 Scopes "monkey trial" in Tennessee. Tracy and March are
supurb as the defense lawayer and prosecutor in the case, who are based on
Clarence Darrow and William Jennings Bryan, the real life attourneys in
the actual trial. They urge the merits of Darwin's theory of evolution
passionately. The sultry atmosphere of a small-town courtroom in the midsummer adds
to the authenticity.
Cast:
Spencer Tracy, Fredric March, Dick York, Gene Kelly, Florence Eldridge, Elliot Reid, and Harry Morgan
Director: Stanley Kramer
